Chapter 36

The next morning Regina and I celebrated again and again and then again in the shower. We eventually got dressed because we decided to go to Granny's for breakfast. We walked in and there was plenty of room at the counter so that's where we sat. Granny came walking out of the kitchen and stopped quickly when she saw us. "Well if it isn't the happy honeymooners. What brings you both in here today?"   "Well we didn't feel like cooking so we came in for the best breakfast in town".  She smiles and then I see she's still wearing her locket. "You know that really looks so nice on you Granny".  She gives us a big smile and she touches the locket.  "Thank you both again. I absolutely love this".  Regina says. "It does look lovely on you but you don't have to thank me. This was all Emma. It was very important for her to do this for you Granny".  I can tell that Granny is trying to hide her emotions right now. "Ok here are a some menus ladies. I have to get back to work".  She put two menus on the counter and walks quickly into the kitchen.  Ruby comes out and starts talking to us. "Hey guys. How's married life?"   "So far so very good Rubes. You feeling alright this morning?"   "Yes Emma I feel absolutely fine. I was well behaved last night".  "Yes you were and I'm very proud of you. Thank you".   "Ya ya ya. You guys gonna order or what?"  We laugh and give her our orders.  She goes to put them in and Regina and I talk while we wait. "So babe are you going to call your lawyer when we get home?"   "That's my plan dear. I want him to look into everything that my mother has done and even what she's been accused of.  I want her to pay for everything she has ever done".  It wasn't long before Ruby brought out our food and drinks. We ate and then when we were done we paid our tap and said our goodbyes to everyone. I drove us home and when we walk into the house I asked her what she was gonna to do now.  "I guess it's time to make the call. I can't believe this bitch has led me to this, but I will fight fire with fire Emma. I'm not backing down this time. That bitch is definitely going to get what she deserves".  I've never seen such determination in her eyes before. "Anything I can do for you babe?"   "Can you get me a bottle of water please and could you sit in my office as I make this call?"   "Not a problem sweetheart. I'll be right in".   We kiss and she walks into her office and I went to get us each a bottle of water then I went into her office. She's sitting behind her desk and I sit across from her in the chair. She takes a sip of the water, looks at me and let's out a deep breath. She picks up the phone and dials her lawyers number and when he answers she began telling him everything that happened and what was said last night.  She also told him that she wants him to get everyone to dig deep into her mother and everything she has ever done and has ever been involved in. She will pay for all the man power needed. She wanted them to tear her apart and some how catch her on blackmail charges.  They talk for about 15 minutes and Regina hangs up the phone. "What did he say babe?"   "He'll do whatever it takes to find as much as he can to bring her down. He's going to bring all the best people he knows that will try to find everything on Cora Mills".   "Excellent babe. I just hope it won't take long. I don't want Cora stressing you out. It's not good for you or the baby".   "I know my love. I hope for the same thing".  It's a nice day so we both go sit outside on the back patio. We hold hands as we sit and try to relax.  After a while I ask.  "Regina I was just wondering how you were feeling?"   "I'm feeling very content sitting here with you my love".  "I don't mean sitting here babe, I meant as far as everything that's happening with your mother".   She squeezed my hand and says.  "My dear. I would just like this to be over with as soon as possible. I think tonight I'll call my lawyer back and see how many people he has on this because I want at least double the man power".   "I understand babe. I just hope you take it easy with this no matter how this turns out".  "I will Emma I promise you my love".  She leans over and we share a kiss and a smile. We sit back and relax for a while.  About an hour and a half later the sun starts to shine on us and it gets warm so we go inside the house. I make us a few fruit smoothies with the leftover fruit salad Regina made the other day. There was just enough for the both of us. As we were sitting on the couch watching tv, we heard the front door open and close. Then we heard Zelena's voice. "Hello newlyweds. Is it safe to come in?"   Regina and I laugh and she says. "Yes Zelena we are in the living room. Come on in".  She walks in slowly and looks around. She sees us all dressed and walks in closer and sits across from us.  "So young lovers how was the last 18 hours of being married?"    "It's fine Zelena".   "Wow sis calm down. You sounded way over excited there.  What's going on?"   "I called my lawyer and told him everything.  I asked him to investigate mother and dig up everything they can. They are working on it now. I want her to pay for this Zelena. That woman has put me through so much and now she needs to pay for everything she's done".   "I agree that she needs to pay but is this something you really want to do?"   "What kind of question is that Zelena?  She's blackmailing me for money. Of course I want to do this. I'm sure I'm not the first one she's done this too. What would you do?"  She shrugs and says.  "I don't know sis I guess your doing the right thing then".  "This is definitely the right thing to do Zelena".   "Then go for it. I'm behind you all the way".   The sisters hug but I didn't like what Zelena said to Regina. It makes me wonder if she's perhaps on Cora's side in all this. Regina yawns and says. "Alright you two. I'm going upstairs to change and maybe I'll take a nap. I'll decide when I get there. Both of you please behave".  Zelena and I look at each other and nod.  She gets up and starts to walk upstairs. Once I hear our bedroom door close I turn to Zelena and ask.  "Are you working with your mother in anyway Zelena?"   "How could you ask me that Emma?"   "Can you blame me?  You actually asked Regina if she really wanted to do this?  What the hell kind of question is that?   She's my sister".   "Yes she is and Cora is your mother who treated you a hell of a lot better than she ever did to Regina. I'm just asking if you have some loyalty to Cora?"  I can tell she's a pissed off at me but I don't care. This is about my wife and if Zelena had something to do with this I'm throwing her ass out of this house and then I'm throwing all her stuff out the window.  "I know I haven't been the best sister to her or even that good of a friend to you but I've been trying to redeem myself these last few months, but now Emma as far as I'm concerned you can go to hell".   She leaves the room and stomped upstairs and then I can hear her slam the door. I just sit in the quietness of the living room for a few minutes till I hear someone walking down the stairs. I'm staying over at Granny's B&B. If Regina asks you can either tell her the truth or tell her that I'm giving the newlyweds time alone. I don't really care. Goodbye".  She leaves out the front door and slams it shut. Damn her. She knows Regina is trying to sleep and she keeps slamming the doors like a child.  A few minutes later Regina comes into the living room and sits next to me. "So what was with all the slamming doors I kept hearing?"   "I'm sorry if that woke you babe".  "No it didn't. I was still awake. What's going on?"   "Well Zelena is pissed at me and I don't care".   "Oh Emma what happened now?"  "I asked her is she was working with Cora and I guess I hit a nerve. She left to stay at Granny's".  "Emma why would you ask her something like that?"   "I guess it was because she asked if you really wanted to do this? As in go after your mother. It just struck me as weird so I asked her about it".  "You asked her by accusing her?  She grew up in the same house as me Emma and she knows how mother was".  "I understand Regina but you told me she never treated her like she did you. I was just wondering if she had some loyalty to your mother".   "Oh Emma I wish you hadn't done that".   "Sorry babe. I just really needed to ask".  "Damn it I need to call her now. I guess it's another fire I have to put out".  "I'm sorry babe but...".   "It's fine sweetheart. I know your on my side. I just wish you didn't accuse her like you did. Yes it's true that mother took almost everything out on me but Zelena had some tough times too Emma. My sister actually wanted to go to acting school but mother was dead set against it. She said Zelena had a talent for designing. So she made her do that. It ended up working out very well but I know my sister always wondered what could have been".   "I'm sorry Regina. I really didn't mean to hurt her I'm just trying to help. I don't want more people trying to hurt you".   "I understand Emma and thank you. Now if you'll excuse me I need to go call her".   "Of course baby and I'm really ok with her coming back here if she'd like".  Regina gets up and walks over to me. She gives me a kiss then goes into the kitchen to call her sister.  A while later she comes back and told me that she talked Zelena into coming back here to the house. I was fine with it but I really don't want to argue with her when she gets here and I definitely don't want to do it in front of Regina.  Less than an hour later Zelena came walking through the door. She left her two suitcases in the foyer and joins us in the living room.  She looks at me and I get an evil eye. Regina and her sister hug and sit across from me.  "I'm sorry if I hurt your feelings Zelena. I'm just trying to protect my wife. I want everyone involved in this to get exactly what they deserve".  "Including me Emma?"   "Only if your involved Zelena".  "You came up with that awfully quick Emma. After all these months do you really think so low of me that I would help anyone, including my mother blackmail my own sister?"   "I hoped not but I just had to ask the question Zelena. Like I said, I'm sorry if I hurt your feelings".   "Did you believe my answer?"   "I think so. I really want to Zelena".  "I don't know why I even came back here. Your going to think what you want no matter what I say".   "Alright you two can you both call a truce and try to move on from this and focus on throwing the book at my mother?"    "Sure babe".  "Fine Regina. Whatever you want".  Zelena still didn't sound happy but at least she agreed. "Now I'd like to go into my office and call my lawyer. I would also like both of you to join me".  As I was nodding Zelena says.  "Don't trust us to be alone for a little while Regina?"  "I was hoping you'd come for moral support but do what you want Zelena".  Regina gets up and starts walking to her office. I follow right behind her. I walk in and sit down. Not long after Zelena joins us. Regina picks up the phone and starts to dial.
