Not alone anymore

Chapter 42

On our way home Regina called her sister and told her we were on the way home. She asked if we wanted her to start dinner for us. We said no that we would probably just order out. She said that was even better because she didn't want to cook anyway. We all laughed and Regina told her sister that we'd be there within the hour. The call ended and Regina snuggled up to me. She put her arm through mine and fell asleep on my shoulder. I made sure to be extra safe driving and try my best not to hit any pot holes. I wanted to make sure my wife got as much rest as she could. I pulled in our driveway at a little past 3 in the afternoon. Regina was still sleeping on my arm so I kissed her head and said quietly.  "Hey baby we're home".  All hear is a few grunts from her and she stretches a bit.  I kissed her again and said. "Come on babe it's time to wake up".   I rub her right arm and speak again.  "Baby. Let's go into the house so you can get some more rest".  Her eyes start flutter open and she looks at me.  "We're home babe. You ready to go inside?"   She gives me a small smile and nods. I kiss her forehead and get out of the car and walk over to her passenger door. I open it and take her hand to help her out. She hugs me. "Emma my love I'm so tired". I smile at her and pick her up to carry her into the house. Once we are in I take her right upstairs to our bedroom. I help her change into something comfortable and get her into bed. It looks like she instantly falls asleep. I cover her up, kiss her cheek and head back outside to the car to gather most of our stuff. When I come back in Zelena is walking into the foyer. "Hey blondie where is my sister?"   "She fell asleep on the way home and was still tired so she's up in bed sleeping".   "So did you two have a good time away?"   "Yes it was actually very relaxing for Regina. Which is exactly what I wanted. I got her a great massage and it really helped her relax. We also took a tour around the harbor and the captain gave us VIP passes to tour the USS Constitution. Zelena it's such an amazing ship. I loved looking at it when I lived in Boston".    "Well blondie it seems like you both have had a great time. Do you need help bringing anything in?"   "No thanks Z. I just have a few more things".  "Ok then have at it".  And with that she walks away. I shake my head and laugh a bit. I go out and get the rest of the stuff. I put it against the wall with the other bags and luggage. I didn't want to take it up to the bedroom and wake up Regina. I go in the kitchen and grab a bottle of water and go into the living. I sit on the couch, kick my shoes off and put my feet on the coffee table. I take a sip of my water and put my head back against the cushion. "Oh man I could so use an nap".   "Then go and snuggle with your wife Emma. I'll be here when you all decide to wake up and join me again".   "You don't mind Z?"   "Definitely not. I've been alone the last few days a few more hours wouldn't hurt me".  I put the cap back on my water bottle and smile at Zelena.  "Thanks Z. I'm sure we'll be up soon".   "Ya ya ya sweet dreams. Just go before you make me sick".   "Oh come on Z I know you love me and I kinda like you you to. Regina would be so be happy we get along so well now".    "Oh dear god. Your going to make me throw up. Just go. Now blondie before I scratch your eyes out".  I laugh as I get up and start walking out of the room.  Before I go upstairs I peek over the corner into the living room.  "Love ya Z. See ya soon".   "Oh that's it. I'm sick now".  She makes it look like she's about to vomit. I laugh and run upstairs and change then get into bed next to my beautiful wife.  I move close to her and put my arm around her to hold her close. I feel her breathe in then out and she takes hold of my hand and I quickly fall asleep.  I'm being awoken a while later by the feeling of gentle fingers running through my hair.   Before I open my eyes I smile and Regina says. "There is that smile that I love. The only think that would make it better is to see those gorgeous green eyes".  I smile bigger and then open my eyes just a little bit. The brightness in the room hurts my eyes at first. She places a kiss to my lips and pulls back to look at me. "Thank you my love".   "What are you thanking me for babe?"  She kisses me again and says.  "I'm thanking you for the last few days Emma. I really didn't realize how stressed out I've been lately until I had that anxiety attack. You knew that I needed to get away. So thank you for noticing that and sticking with me while I was being so stubborn. You made these last few days the best medicine that I needed. Especially that incredible massage and those comfortable nights laying in bed watching a movie and having room service. It was truly a wonderful time. I love you".   I lean up to kiss her. "Baby you don't have to thank me. I believe that's what love means. To always take care of who you love. I love you and I love our baby. All that stress was so bad for you so I had to do something".  "You did my love. You definitely did".  We kiss again and then we just hold each other.  A little while later we hear a knock at our bedroom door.  "I'm guessing that's my sister".  I smile good and say. "Good time for some fun". I quietly laugh a little and get a look from Regina. We here another knock and Zelena speaks.  "Hey are you guys awake?"   "Come back later Z. Me and your sister are really busy right now".   "Oh gross blondie. Regina your lawyer is here and you need to hear this".  I say. "Tell him to come back Zelena".  Regina slaps me in the arm.  "Come on in Zelena we aren't doing anything".  She slowly opens the door and peeps in. She opens the door wider and says. "Your sick blondie. Regina get up and both of you get dressed. Mother has been arrested and your are going to want yo hear this".   "Really Zelena. Yes. Now get going. I'll be downstairs".  She leaves the room and closes the door.   "Well I wonder what all this is about".   "Only one way to find out babe".  We both get out of bed and get dressed. We head downstairs and meet Zelena and Regina's lawyer Will in the living room. We both say hello to him and we sit down. Will starts to speak. "I'm sorry you two had to be woken up but you'll definitely want to hear this".  Regina takes hold of my hand and he continues.  "You already know we found the man that recorded the video of what happened and that he's agreed to help us. We've had him under 24 hour protection. Also we've been working closely with the FBI and this case is extremely of high importance. The FBI is handling it as an organized crime. The district attorney prepared everything and petitioned the court and the judge signed off on it and she was picked up a little while ago. She will be arraigned in the morning".   Zelena asks. "We she be able to get bail?"   "It's highly unlikely. The DA is asking for her passport to be taken and that she be denied bail".  "Wow. Ok. I almost can't believe that this is my mother we are talking about. Regina you've been quiet. What do you think?"  When Regina speaks its in a soft tone. Her face looks like she's almost in shock.  "Will is there anything else we need to know?"   "No Mrs. Swan-Mills. That's all for now. The arraignment should start about 10:30am".   Regina stands and so does her lawyer. All 3 of us walk him to the door and there was no expression on Regina's face. We said goodbye to Will and as Regina closed the door she locked it and walked into the kitchen. Zelena and I looked at each other and Z said. "Maybe I should go talk to my sister".   "Actually Zelena I'll take this one".  She nods and I go into the kitchen and see Regina fixing a cup of her decaf tea. When she's done she sits on the stool of the  kitchen island. She looks up at me. I give her a small smile and go to sit next to her.  We don't say anything just yet. She picks up her tea and blows gently on it to try to cool it a bit. Then she takes a small sip.  "Babe, may I ask how you are feeling or what's going through your head right now?"   "My mother has been arrested on organized crime charges. What do you think is going through my mind?"   Her words weren't angry. They were just very to the point. "I can't imagine babe. I'm very sorry. If you'd like to talk to me I'm here for you anytime you need me".   "I know my love. Thank you".  She takes another sip of her tea and holds onto my hand. "Emma this is just awful. This is my mother all this is happening to. She was so cruel to me and to know she actually did all these things I cant help but think that if she ever got a a certain point of hating me that she probably wouldn't hesitate to add me to her list of, oh I don't know, victims I guess. Then I think why would she stop at me. Would she add Zelena to that list?"   Tears start falling from her eyes and she leaps up to wrap her arms around my neck and holds me tight. She's sobbing so hard against me. I just try to comfort her and hold her as tight as I can.   I rub my hand up and down her back and try to tell her it'll be ok. I didn't notice that Zelena came into the kitchen and wrapped her arms around both of us. I see that she gives Regina a kiss to her head. "Baby. Your sister is here. You two need each other right now babe".  She nods on my shoulder and she releases from her tight embrace around me and goes to hug her sister. They quickly hold one another and cry together. I move a little out of the way but I don't leave the room. I really worried about my wife. All of this is so weighting so much on her. That can't be good for the baby.  After a while the sisters finally separate and start to talk. They carry on a great conversation and they reassure each other. I think that Regina felt a lot better. Once things calmed down, we all went over to Granny's for dinner. None of us wanted anything big so Regina and I shared a grilled chicken Caesar wrap and some sweet potato fries.  Zelena had a turkey club with a side salad. There wasn't much conversation as we all ate. When we were done I paid the tab left a good tip then I drove us all back home. No one really wanted to do anything so we all went to our bedrooms. Regina and I changed into our night time clothes and then got into bed and snuggled close. We looked through our cable on demand shows and movies then we checked out Netflix. We decided to what the show The Tudors. I actually love that show and I think Regina said she'd watch it just to please me. We watched 2 episodes from season 1 then we decided to try to get some sleep. It only took me a few minutes to fall asleep but I guess Regina had some trouble. I can't blame her everything that came out tonight was just, well it was just hard to handle for the sisters. I awaken to the sound of the bedroom door closing. I roll over and look at the clock. We only shut the tv off an hour ago. I take the covers off me and sit up. I put my feet on the floor and I stretch a bit. I get up and head downstairs to check on my wife. She's in the kitchen sipping on her cup of tea. I stand in the doorway and gently knock on the open door. She looks up at me and gives me a small smile. I smile back and walk closer to her. "You couldn't sleep babe?"   She shakes her head no.  "I'm sorry babe. Can I get you anything?"  "No thank you dear. I think I just needed some time".   "I can respect that sweetheart. Did you want to be alone?"   "I really don't know Emma. I'm not really sure what I want".  I give a small smile and nod.  "Hey babe I have an idea if your interested. How about we go into the living room and relax on the loveseat. Put our feet up and snuggle together as we listen to some soft music. Maybe that will help you get some rest".  "I actually like that idea my love. Let's go".  She gives me a kiss and we hold hands as we walk into the living room. We sit on the loveseat and recline. I wrap my arms around her and she snuggles right into my chest. I use the remote control to work the stereo system. I make sure it's down low and start a mix of our favorite slow songs that we have put into a playlist. After a few songs I noticed that Regina has fallen asleep and I'm happy about that. I smile and put my head on hers and gently hold her a little tighter.  Before I knew it I asleep myself.
