^^ Micheal Davis.

My high school bully.

He brings my hand to his lips and he kisses my knuckles.

"It's been a while, what 10 years?" He asks.

I grit my teeth and I force myself to become emotionless.

"Nearly 20" I respond shortly.

He nods.

"You look good" he says with a small grin.

I give him a small smile back.

"Likewise" I respond, pulling my hand out of his.

I look at Johaan.

"Your daughter" I say, walking up to her.

She has fallen asleep, her breathing at ease and the colour back in her face.

"Yes. I was given the details about the surgery, thank you so much" he says.

I nod in response.

"No need to thank me. It's my job." I tell him.

"How have the years since we last spoken treated you?" He asks.

Good question.

"God is good" I respond simply.

He smiles and nods.

"I heard the head of surgery was there too. Can I speak to them?" He asks hopefully.

I look him in the eyes.

"You're looking at her" I respond, with a shrug.

His jaw drops.

"Woah. Really?" Congratulations! When did this happen?" He asks, amazed.

"Four years ago" I tell him.

He grins.

"You were always mad smart" he says, rubbing his neck.

I look at him.

He even noticed?

What, with all the abuse, you'd hardly assume he had time to think of me as smart.

"Thank you" I respond.

I look at Johaan.

"Her mother?" I ask.

"She's at work" he says, looking back at her.

I look back at Johaan and I recheck her vitals.

She's fine.

I turn back to Micheal.

"Your daughter will be fine. She can be discharged tonight" I tell him.

"Do you have plans tomorrow?" He suddenly asks me.
