Asiya Morris' POV

"UNO! Furthermore, pick up 4 cards, Mr Miller" Violet yells.

"Dad, are you gonna take that?!" Orion says, laughing as our dad is being forced to pick 4 cards out of the deck.

We've all eaten dinner together, the kids have been put down and now we're sat down around the family table, playing UNO.

Violets new here, but our parents seem to adore her.

And my the looks of it...

So does Orion.

I smirk at them.

You could cut the sexual tension between them with a knife!

But I can tell it's even more than that.

Layla and I went shopping with her this afternoon and she's probably one of the smartest women I've ever met.

I like her.

As part of our family 'initiation' we also bought her a little 'present' for when the two of them get some alone time.

My easily distracted little brother won't know what hit him, the poor boy.

Our dad grins.

"Nope, but Judah is!" My dad says, putting down another 'plus 4' card.

Judah, Layla's husband groans as if pained and he picks 8 cards up.

"Y'all ain't shit" he mutters and everyone laughs.

Amidst the laughter, Orion leans over to Violet and mutters something in her ear, putting his right hand under the table.

She immediately flushes and swats him away.

When he smirks, she squirms a little more and removes his hand.

Our mum walks into the room and talks over the noise.

"Violet, darling. Join me in the kitchen for a second" my mum calls.

Immediately, Violet stands up, giving Orion her last card to follow our mum to the kitchen.

The game continues and I notice Orion fidgeting a little.

He got a text earlier from Trinity.

Aaliyah wasn't feeling too well, so she wasn't able to make it to family night.

As usual, Orion is panicking.

But Trinity is her mother. And a good one at that.

He doesn't need to panic. Kids get sick. That's life.

Violet comes back, with a flustered expression and a tray of cupcakes in her hands.

She offers my dad one first.

And then everyone else.

She's cultural.

She hands the last but one on the tray to Orion, taking one for herself.

He takes it and then pulls her onto his lap, face in her neck.

Everyone carries on with the game, as they flirt.

I catch part of their conversation.

"Orion, stop being a freak!" She giggles softly.

"No" he responds, his hand under the table again.
