Harry's mouth opened and closed as if he were a fish out of water, he couldn't believe it, " Sh-She's here?" he managed to choke out, his emerald eyes snapping over to Eurielle who seemed to be gripping Fred's hand as if he were the only thing keeping her from collapsing. Her silver eyes were fixed on the floor, unblinking.
Mrs. Weasley watched to the door nervously, " Yes, Evelyn will be staying here, now this is of the utmost importance so listen closely," she began with a stern look, " You cannot tell her who you are, who she is, show her old photographs, and you may not try and 'jog' her memory, do you understand?"
The teens in the kitchen nodded all the while sending each other awkward glances, unsure of what to do with themselves, " According to Madame Pomfrey it's imperative we don't do those things. If we were to there's no telling what she'd do. . ." she trailed off, her warm brown eyes going to Eurielle, a sympathetic look on her face.
Harry was sure everyone in the room felt sorry for Eurielle. Hermione seemed to be resisting the urge to ask her if she was okay while Ron and George looked very distressed indeed. Ginny, even though she didn't particularly like Eurielle, looked at the Ravenclaw with pity.
Harry himself felt absolutely horrible. Their argument playing in his head, when she had told him he couldn't possibly understand. She'd been right, it was one thing to not have parents but an entirely different matter to know they were suffering and you couldn't do anything about it.
When he had seen Sirius on the floor next to Lupin it felt as if all the wind had been knocked out of him, it was a horrifying sight to see an adult brought to a hysterical sobbing mess, especially Sirius.
It was scary knowing his godmother's state had made the older wizard succumb to that, just how bad was she? Were they allowed to see her?
The door swung open to reveal Remus, his face paler than usual even though the full moon wasn't until a few more weeks, " Evelyn's in the parlor," he said quietly, turning towards Eurielle " Would you like to see her?"
Eurielle's grip on Fred's hand tightened and she leaned into the tall redhead causing him to wrap a reassuring arm around her, " I don't think she's ready," Fred mumbled, running a hand over her dark curls.
The werewolf nodded, " I understand. . . "
A tense silence followed until Eurielle whispered, still pressed against Fred's chest, " She can stay in my room until we can get her one of her own set up,"
Remus nodded, " Right, well I suggest you all go back to bed, everything is fine," he said before running a hand through his graying hair, still looking at Eurielle.
The group began to move up the stairs, Eurielle remained tucked into Fred's side before slipping into the twins' bedroom, much to Molly's silent dismay.
-
Eurielle felt silent tears slide down her tan cheeks as she took Fred's sweater from him before getting into bed beside him. The Gryffindor pulled her to his bare chest while rubbing her back, " Don't feel ashamed for not being ready," he whispered, sending George a ' She's okay' look.
The dark-haired girl nodded, closing her eyes and burying her face into his chest. Her fingers traced the outlines of his muscular arm, " Okay, I . . . I will tomorrow," she murmured, her eyes closing and she drifted into a restless sleep.
-
Sirius leaned against the doorway of the parlor, his eyes on Pomfrey who was casting warming charms over Evelyn, her lips pressed into a thin line and her white eyebrows furrowed in concentration, " Is she okay?" he asked quietly.
