Samson Above, 1951

Samson apparated into the Ministry and didn't bother to look dignified and aloof as he hurried down the corridor to the new Minister's office, this wasn't good. Amelia was dead, killed by death eaters , and they were calling on him to be the next Head of Magical Law Enforcement.

He knew very well this placed an even bigger target on his back, as well as his family.

Samson let himself into Rufus's office where he saw the ex-auror standing with his back turned to him, overlooking the atrium through a large window, " Hello, Samson," he said, " Please have a seat."

The older man did so, his forest green eyes watching the man carefully as he observed aurors apparating and then reappearing down below. He wracked his brain for the possible answers to the possible questions he would ask, but he came up empty handed.

" Let's get to the point, shall we?" he sighed, flicking his wand toward a tray in the corner that held a bottle of firewhiskey and two glasses. The tray levitated over to them and Samson watched as amber liquid was poured into a crystal before floating over to him.

He took it with a thankful nod, " Let's,"

" Pius Thicknesse also wants the position. . . and you know him as well as I do he is well-mannered, calm, collected, and introverted. I've never seen him so passionate about anything," he said, " And there are many who stand behind him,"

For a moment Samson entertained the idea of forfeiting the position to save his life, and maybe even his family's. But then he saw his poor daughter, a blank expression and a glassy look in her eyes as she stared at him.

" It's up to you how this ends Samson,"

He gripped the glass a little harder but didn't allow himself to show how he felt.

The tired man looked up and nodded, " I'll do it,"

Evelyn paced back and forth as she tried to put two and two together.

Fred, she had known him- before. He had answers, but so did Severus.

They knew who she had been, but why didn't they tell her. She thought back to how Severus refused to answer her questions and she came to the conclusion she'd have to figure it out for herself, but how?

Sirius paced back and forth, his conversation with Remus playing over and over again in his head.

His old friend had told him what Fred had said, but as much as he wanted her to remember he couldn't let her know anything until she had more sessions with Snape, then, and only then, would she be able to handle it.

Sirius's stomach gave an unpleasant squirm as he recalled the evening's events prior to dinner, he shouldn't had made an advance toward her. He had felt guilty ever since she disappeared down the stairs, he had probably overwhelmed her.

The pureblood had decided to keep this bit of information to himself, Remus would have probably blown up in his face and rightly so.

Besides that he had been delighted to see Harry and the rest of his family. Dinner had allowed them all to catch up and enjoy each other's company in a warm and welcoming setting, something he hadn't experienced in a while.

In all honesty it had drained him to talk about James and Lily, like it always did, but he owed that much to Harry.

After dinner Lindsey had came to him and told her how proud she was of him. He smiled at the memory, Sirius didn't know what he would do without his mother-in-law.
