Evelyn stared menacingly down at the death eater, at the man who had caused her and her family so much pain, " Does it hurt?" she whispered softly.
For a moment he looked up at her but she only tightened her grip on his neck, causing his face to turn a ghastly shade of purple. He reached for his wand but it lay forgotten on the floor, " You killed my best friend!" she yelled, allowing the cord around his neck to pull him upwards before throwing him to the side, " You hurt my Mother!"
Evelyn sent a hex toward him that caused him to cry out in pain, " And then you go after my daughter!"
Eurielle took a step backward at the look on her mother's face. This wasn't the sweet and warm glow she usually had, no, this was cruel. Her mother then sent a spell toward the man in a swishing motion. The spell worked like a knife, slicing the man's thighs, making him fall to the ground, " Please stop!"
Evelyn advanced on him, " STOP?!" she roared, " YOU DESERVE NOTHING!"
" You took everything from me!" she cried. Evelyn sent a flurry of hexes at him and each scream sent a chill down Eurielle's spine. But then she felt Ginny place an arm around her and she was pulled back into reality.
For a moment she thought her mother was going to kill the death eater but she simply stunned him before sending a swift kick to his ribs, " I'll make sure you rot in Azkaban for the rest of your life, death is too good for you," she spat.
Evelyn's shoulders heaved and her back was towards the two teens who watched with wide eyes, " I'm sorry you saw that," she said quietly- almost awkwardly.
Eurielle shook her head as if she could see her, " It's um . . . fine,"
Ginny scoffed quietly beside her, " Speak for yourself," she muttered.
Slowly her mother turned around, her eyes immediately going to Eurielle, " I'm sorry I took so long to come back to you," she said with an uneasy smile, taking a step forward, " I tried a few times before but they would always catch me, but I always thought about you,"
" Wondering what you were like," she whispered coming closer, " And who you looked more like,"
Evelyn laughed slightly as tears welled up in eyes, " You look like me with Sirius's eyes and hair color,"
Eurielle felt a smile stretch across her face and momentarily forgot they were under attack with a death eater over in the corner, " I'm so proud of you, Ellie," she said.
For the longest time she had wanted to hear those words, and now that she finally had she was almost unsure of what to do. Before she knew it Eurielle launched herself at her mother, a choked sob leaving her as she did so.
Evelyn wrapped her arms around her daughter and she too allowed herself to succumb to the tears that had been threatening to fall, " I love you so much," she said in a watery laugh, " I love you,"
Eurielle clinged back to her, not caring that Ginny was right behind them, " I love you too," she whispered.
Evelyn ran a hand over Eurielle's hair before pressing a kiss to her forehead, " We'll catch up later, I promise, but we need to get you two to a common room right now,"
Eurielle nodded before looking back to Ginny who wore a tearful smile, " My common room is closer," she said to Evelyn who nodded.
" Alright, wands out girls,"
Evelyn made sure to walk in front of them, " Check behind you every now and then," she said quietly. So they continued down the hall. All three witches were silent as they moved throughout the school. They were almost there when Evelyn felt a sharp pain shoot behind her eyes.
