Warning: Sad boi hours, LOL

After Tam, Linh, Maruca, Keefe, and Fitz all changed into regular clothes, Edaline and Grady offered to serve everyone dinner at their house. Marella said that she couldn't because her parents had probably noticed her absence, and Maruca said that her parents wanted her home right after the game, so it was only the seven of them at Sophie's house that night.

"I love your mom's food," Keefe said as they made their way to the table after Edaline had announced that dinner was ready.

Sophie smiled as she sat in between Biana and Fitz, causing Keefe to choose the seat across from her. "Me too,"

Edaline had made chili—minus the meat for Biana and Dex—and cornbread for dinner and everyone had asked for seconds afterwards.

Tam and Linh didn't stick around after dinner because their parents wanted them home immediately, but everyone else stayed for a few more hours.

Sophie sat in the living room with Dex, Biana, and Keefe, having a really cool conversation that probably lasted a whole hour. They couldn't stop laughing and Sophie knew that it was probably the most fun she'd had in a long time.

Sophie hadn't realized that Fitz wasn't in the room until he came in from the kitchen with a ticked-off look on his face. He stared at both Sophie and Keefe with contempt, and it only took Sophie a minute to notice the angry glare.

"Hold on guys," She muttered to them as she got up and walked to the other side of the living room. She pulled Fitz down the hall before asking, "What's wrong?"

He scoffed. "What's wrong?" He repeated with bile in his tone. "You guys are having a good time in there without me—even though I'm the one who won the game."

Sophie literally almost laughed—but she didn't—before she blinked at him. "You're more than welcome to join us," She told him with a shrug. "And tonight isn't just about you winning the game."

"Really?" Fitz asked, disbelief in his eyes. "You're saying that you don't care that we won?"

"Of course not," Sophie said, shaking her head quickly. "I'm saying that you're not the only one who helped us win. Sure you pulled it off in the end, but there were other people that helped win too. Like Keefe and—"

"Oh, so you're standing up for Keefe now?" He asked, glaring toward the living room.

"He's my friend, Fitz." Sophie said with a scoff, not believing that they were arguing about something as stupid as this. "I stand up for you too, you know. I stand up for all of my friends,"

Fitz rolled his eyes. "But I'm not just your friend—I'm your boyfriend. You're supposed to be on my side." He growled.

Sophie took a step back before she felt herself boil over with anger. "Well, I'm your girlfriend; you're supposed to trust me!" She shouted, realizing too late that everyone heard her.

But she really didn't care at the moment.

Fitz tore a hand through his hair. "Well maybe I would if you didn't hang out with Keefe so much!" He shouted back.

"What's wrong with me hanging out with Keefe?" She asked, still yelling. "I hang out with Tam and Dex all the time too!"

"Dex is you cousin!" He said. "And Tam and Biana obviously have a thing for each other!"

"And I obviously have a thing for you!" Sophie said, her voice getting even louder. "Keefe is just my friend!"

Fitz rolled his eyes again before shouting, "Can't you see that Keefe likes you!? He's trying to manipulate you into liking him back."

"Well if he is, it's obviously not working!" Sophie said as her voice broke. She couldn't believe they were actually having a big argument. Sure they'd fought before, but nothing this big.

"Are you sure about that?" He asked, shooting her a glare. "I saw you guys at Wylie's graduation party. You were basically mooning when he was helping you decorate the cupcakes!"

Sophie opened her mouth to say something back, but was cut off by a quiet voice. "Guys, you really don't need to fight."

Sophie and Fitz whipped around to see Keefe standing at the hallways threshold.

"Oh great!" Fitz said, rolling his eyes. "Here comes the hero, why don't you go run into his arms, Sophie?" Then he looked at Keefe and spat, "She's my girlfriend—stay away from her,"

"I don't belong to anyone," Sophie said, glaring at both of the boys.

Fitz rolled his eyes once again, and Sophie couldn't help but kick him right in the wrong-spot. He fell to the ground and Sophie told him, "Roll your eyes again—maybe you'll find a brain back there!"

Then she heard Keefe chuckle from behind her.

Sophie had no idea why she was so mad at him, but she was. She whipped around to face him and yelled, "Shut-up Keefe!"

Then she ran down the hallway and upstairs. She locked herself in her room and threw herself onto her bed and cried.

"Why do boys have to be so stupid?" Sophie muttered to herself through sobs. "I hate them."

Sophie had no idea how long she laid there crying, but by the time she sat up it was completely dark in her room. Sophie struggled to get up off her bed, and the first thing she did was draw the curtains over her window. She didn't want to have anything to do with Keefe or Fitz for a long time.

Then Sophie quietly made her way downstairs and searched through the pantry and the fridge. She wanted something sweet to help her bitter heart. She looked everywhere, and all she could find was a whole tub of peanut-butter ice-cream.

Sophie didn't like that kind of ice-cream, but it was the only thing that she could find. So she grabbed a spoon and a blanket before curling up on the couch with the ice-cream.

She cried as she ate, but a voice from behind made her jump: "How are you feeling?"

Sophie turned around to see Edaline standing there with a sad smile on her face.

"I'm eating a whole tub of peanut-butter ice-cream Edaline," Sophie said, licking the drips of ice-cream dripping down her chin as she kept crying. "I don't even like peanut-butter!"

Edaline sat down and wrapped Sophie in a long hug. "Oh sweetie, I know it hurts, but you have to remember that it's not the end of the world."

"I...know," Sophie said, her voice cracking. "We didn't break up, but I think—" She cut herself off with loud sobs. "I just don't understand,"

Edaline hugged her tighter and rubbed her back. "There's nothing I can say to make you feel better, Sophie, but you need to start thinking about what you're going to do."

Sophie sniffed as she nuzzled closer to her mom. "I don't know what I'm going to do," Sophie said honestly. "I hate it, but I still love Fitz—but he probably hates me now."

Edaline stopped rubbing her back before sighing. "Sophie, if you really love Fitz, you need to explain everything to him. If he doesn't listen, then you're better off."

"B-but we had a big fight." Sophie said. "There's no way he'll listen."

Edaline started rubbing her back again before saying, "If we all gave up after every big fight, then everyone in the world would end up alone. Don't give up so easily, okay?"
