A week into December later, Sophie was happy with her mended friendship with Keefe, and her relationship with Fitz was better than ever. He actually considered her opinions more, and whenever she talked to Keefe he wouldn't get all protective and angry.
It was super nice.
Friday night, Sophie had planned to invite Biana, Marella, Maruca and Linh over to her house for a sleepover, but Grady and Edaline had other plans.
"We thought," Edaline said after she'd gotten home that afternoon. "That the three of us should go out as a family and do something fun—since we haven't done something like that in a while."
Sophie tilted her head. "What would we do?"
"Go out to eat, see a movie, go bowling," Grady summed up with a shrug. "Average family fun."
Sophie nodded. "I guess it'd be fun—but why tonight?"
"Does there have to be a reason?" Grady asked, raising an eyebrow at her.
"No," Sophie said. "I was just wondering."
"Well," Edaline said with a smile. "There actually is a reason: Grady and I are bringing in new farm animals, and we won't have time to do this next week—and then after that it'll be Christmas break and we'll have to spend all that time shopping for Christmas gifts."
"Oh," Sophie said with a nod. "Yeah, we can do it tonight,"
"Great!" Grady said with a grin. "Start getting ready around six, okay kiddo?"
"Yes sir," Sophie said with a smile before heading up to her room.
Sophie changed into a pair of shorts, a t-shirt, and some sneakers. She put her hair in a braid before heading downstairs and into the living room.
Neither of Sophie's parents were downstairs yet, so Sophie grabbed a quick snack and watched TV. The movie was about a girl who unrealistically fell in love with a boy, but he broke her heart and went after her best friend.
It was rather tragic.
By the time the movie was over, Grady and Edaline were both downstairs and ready to go. They all made their way to a buffet they'd all agreed on going to.
They all ordered their drinks before heading to the buffet. Sophie had a love/hate relationship with buffets. She loved them because she didn't have to tell the waiter what she wanted, but she hated them because she always ate way too much.
After they'd all gotten their dinner, they started to eat and talk. They talked about how school was going for Sophie and how her friends were doing, and then they talked about some of the animals back at home.
Sophie had gotten up to get some ice cream, and when she got back Grady asked her, "Do you want to see a movie first, or go bowling?"
Sophie thought for a minute. She hadn't gone bowling in a couple of years, so...
"How about we go bowling first?" She said while eating the ice-cream.
Grady nodded, and soon—after Sophie was done with her dessert—they got in the car and drove to the bowling alley. Edaline got the snacks and Grady grabbed their shoes while Sophie set up all their names.
Sophie decided that she'd give them different names then their actual ones. She quickly put them in, and soon Grady and Edaline were back.
"Wait," Grady said, looking up at the screen. "Why am I The Boss?" He asked.
