Flashback:

"You can't catch me!" Six year old Y/N laughed as she ran across the grass. "Yes I can!" JJ yelled at his sister, running after her. Well, half sister. Y/N had a different mom than JJ, because his dad got a random girl pregnant. But, JJ always treated her as if she were his biological sister. They were like two peas in a pod.

"Got you!" He grabbed her arm. They both bursted out in giggles. "Hey!" They turned around. "What did i tell you kids about running outside!" Their dad yelled. "We were just—" "I don't care! you little shits" He grabbed you by the hair. Pain rushed to your head as your eyes start to water. "Dad stop!" you could hear JJ yelling. "It was me! I made her go outside. it's my fault." JJ said before your dad could hit you.

Your dad threw you to the ground, before walking up to JJ. He smacked him hard in the face. "Get back inside." he spat, before walking back into the house. You quickly ran to JJ, inspecting his face. There was now a red hand mark on his cheek. "Why did you do that?!" you pull him up, walking towards the front door. "I didn't want him to hurt you." "Why?" you asked him. "Because i'm your brother, i'm supposed to protect you."

"Always?" you said looking at him.

"Always."

Another Flashback:

JJ sighed, walking in the sandy beach. He liked coming here because it was quiet, and he could also get away from his dad. There were some family's there with their kid's. The parents would watch their kids as they splashed in the water. He glanced at them with a small frown, knowing that his family would never be like that.

"Hey-"

He turned around, slightly startled. There's was a girl with brown wavy hair and two boys standing behind her. "Sorry, we just wanted to know if you wanted to build san castles with us?" she asked, holding up two mini buckets and shovels. "Yeah, you looked kinda lonely— ow!" One of the boys wearing a hat hit the other one. "John b, that's mean." he said. "Um, sure." JJ said.

They all sat down, now starting to fill the buckets up with sand. "I'm Kiara by the way, what's your name?" the girl asked. "I'm JJ." the blond said. "Nice to meet you, that's Pope and John b" Kiara pointed to the boy in the hat, before moving her finger to point at the boy with wavy brown hair. "So JJ, how would you like to join our friend group, you seem cool." she spoke. "Really?" "Yeah" Pope and John b said at the same time.

"I mean, sure." a small smiles formed on JJ's lips.

Kiara smiled at him.

"Welcome to the pogues, JJ."

Present Day (Now):

As Y/N was in her room drawing as she usually did she heard the front door slam causing her to go hide under her bed. Y/N was always afraid of hearing that noise when she was home or something smashing, or screaming. It was mainly her dad.

Y/N's door then flew open to the sight of JJ. "Jesus JJ don't do that." She says looking up at him crawling out from under the bed. "What are you doing?" She asked. "Have you seen my hat I sat it here when I went with my friends now it's gone." He asks.

"No I haven't seen it i'm sorry. But can you hang out with me today you've been distant with me lately. You've been hanging around with those Pogue's more then your own sister." She says confronting him. "Shut up Y/N your not really even my sister. Am I not allowed to have friends?" He asks making her heart break. That was her brother even though they are half siblings.

"W-why would you say that?" Y/N asks with tears in her eyes. "It's true your not my sister. Your a mistake in a way I hope you know that." He says making her now burst into tears. "Go away." Y/N says screaming as he walks out of the door slamming it. Y/N was now a teenager and JJ saying that was the most childish thing she's ever heard. He's never been like that. Ever since JJ met those Pogue's he's wanted nothing to do with his half sister.

Y/N then decided to sneak out of her room. Her dad wasn't home so she goes and steals a bottle of his alcohol. She runs back to her room sobbing and drinking as she kept having the words JJ said to her on replay in her head.

As JJ was on his way to see the Pogue's he thought to himself 'why did I say that? she is my sister and I love her... and she's right i've been so distant from her. I fucked up..' He then met with the Pogue's. "Guys I'm sorry but i'm gonna go hang with my sister today if that's alright?" He asks then and of course they allow him they can't just stop him from hanging out with his own sister.

Y/N never got to meet the Pogue's which also made her upset. It was about an hour since JJ left the house so Y/N was still by herself.

Then she hears the door slam open again and then she heard yelling. "Who the fuck stole my last bottle of alcohol!" Y/N heard her dad scream. She ran and threw the bottle she took under her bed. Her bedroom door then slams open again.

"Was it you! Come here!" Y/N's father yells grabbing her hair and smelling her breath. He then slaps her across the mouth screaming at her. She didn't want to hear him so she tuned him out. But then it got worse. Her dad kicked her in the stomach, punched her in the face, threw her against the wall. She couldn't even defend herself...

As JJ walked through the front door her heard screaming and automatically ran to his sisters room to see their dad punching the shit out of her and screaming how useless she was in the family. "DAD STOP!" JJ screams ripping his dad off Y/N. "Don't you start with me you little shit!" He screams slapping him in the face but then JJ punches his dad straight in the face.

It didn't stop there. Luke which was their dad got back up and it was now a whole fist fight with JJ and him. Then Luke started getting weaker and weaker.

JJ then finished him by kicking him in the face. He looked to his sister and grabbed her running out of the house. "Y/N i'm sorry! I'm so sorry for ignoring you and not hanging out with you! I didn't mean what I said! I love you more then anything!" He cried to her as she was crying in pain. "JJ it's okay.. I'll be okay." She says to him. "No! It's not this wouldn't have happened if I wouldn't have said what I said or I- I should've been with you.." He says crying even more.

Y/N kisses his cheek. "It's okay. I get it. I forgive you okay?" She says getting less weaker then she was. "Are you okay.." He ask with his voice cracking. She nods getting herself out of his arms.

From that day on JJ and Y/N were with each other no matter what. They were now living with John B. The Pogue's loved JJ's sister and called her one of their own.
