§ T W E N T Y - N I N E §

It comes out as more of a question than a sentence and I step back in confusion when I see that it's not Camryn at all.

"I'm sorry, do I know you?" the boy asks.

He had jet black hair and a well defined jaw and checkbones, his eyes were a dark green and he had a pierced nose. He wore a black shirt and jeans, he also had a sleeve of tattoos going down one arm and there were more poking through the top of his shirt.

I shake my head slowly. "No you don't. Well I don't think so anyways."

I glance around looking for Camryn. Maybe he left?

"Are you waiting for someone?" He asks looking in the direction of the park.

"Yeah, a friend." I nod. I check my phone looking for messages but see that there are none and I sigh.

"I know how it feels to get stood up. It's happened to me one too many times." he says sitting back down on the bench.

I scowl at the ground. I must've been stupid to beleive he'd actually want to meet up. He's done this before and I never even stopped to think that he'd do it again.

"Well then you'll know how I feel." I say.

"Hey, did you move here recently? Your accent sounds different." He says from next to me.

I sit down on the other end of the bench before replying. "I moved here from England a few months ago."

"Oh cool. I lived there for a while, a couple years ago." he says.

It goes quiet for a few minutes none of us talking. It was the type of silence that occurred when no one knew what to say.

"I heard ice cream is supposed to make people feel better. Wanna go get some?" He asks with a small smile.

I hesitate not sure whether or not to go. I check my phone and see that it was almost five. I had to be home by atleast 8pm so why not?

"Sure, why not?" I say and we both get up and start walking towards the closest ice cream parlour.

Damons POV

"Ha! I win, pay up." I say holding my palm out.

Eli rolls his eyes, putting his hand in his pocket. He pulls out a twenty dollar bill and slaps it into my hand.

"Next time I'll win." he says putting down the ps5 console and I laugh at him.

"Aww don't be a sore loser." I tease and I get a punch in the arm in retaliation.

He glares at me before leaving the game room and I follow behind him wanting something to eat from the kitchen.

Will and Jesse are there already talking about something I'm not even bothered to listen to. I open the top cupboard taking out a pack of biscuits and sit on the island next to them.

"How long are you and Eli suspended for?" Jesse asks stealing one of the biscuits that I had.

"Four days." I say with a role of my eyes.

Will laughs. "What's it for this time?"

"A fight." I say.

"Let me guess, with Camryn?" Will says knowingly.

"Yup." I nod munching one the biscuits I had at hand.

Jesse looks at me scrutinisingly. "You guys were best friends. Literally attached by the hip and now your fighting all the time."

"People change and he ruined that for us." I say clenching my jaw not wanting to be reminded.

I wish we had never met and all this wouldn't have to happen. As though us loosing a friend wasn't enough he had to go about making sure Avery had the same fate.

Don't get me wrong I still hate that girl so much but Mom and Dad seem to like her a lot and I don't want them to get upset.

"Have you tried- you know what never mind." Jesse stops himself saying whatever he wants to say when I stubbornly glare at him.

They both know how much I hate talking about it, yet they sometimes still try to get me to talk. They probably think I haven't gotten over it but I have.

I bite into another biscuit just as the twins get into the kitchen, saying hellos.

"How was school?" Will asks them like the nice big brother he is. If you didn't notice I was being sarcastic but anyways...

"It would've been better if teachers weren't on to us about exams." Benji complains and we all laugh.

"Maybe if you actually tried to get what you were learning in class it would've been easier." Alex says smugly.

"Well sorry Mr. Know It All." Benji apologizes sarcastically making at face at his twin.

"Why did you and Eli fight with Camryn today in the first place?" Alex asks ignoring Benjis comment.

"Cause he's annoying." I say.

"That's really stupid, but you are stupid anyways, so no wonder you make really stupid decisions." Benji points out with a mocking laugh.

I give him a dirty look. "Well then if I'm stupid then you're an idiot."

He scoffs putting a hand on his chest acting hurt. "I am not an idiot."

We all share a look between each other. "You actually are but.. Whatever floats your boat son."

Jesse pats his shoulder with a non apologetic look and Benji glares at us muttering under his breath.

Eli joins us in the kitchen a few minutes later and after a couple of hours of us just generally talking I realise something.

"Hey guys where's Avery?"

AYO my fellow bros. Lol that rhymed but anyways sorry this chapter was short, I know what needs to happen next but idk how to write it if you get what I mean, so yaaaaa. Also I won't be posting for the next two weeks as I'm visiting cousins but I'll be back with more chapters. Also...
