She heard everything about what went down that night. Harry Potter had faced Voldemort. He had taken the philosopher's stone away from him. Voldemort perished yet again. She had an unreadable expression that day.
Despite Blaise and Daphne's questions, she would always answer the same.
"Everything is fine" or "It's fine"
They believed it, but she couldn't. Not even the platinum blonde that stared at her dull eyes.
He didn't mean to push her this far. He didn't mean for the strong girl to waver like this. Never would he want that. Not for Morrigan.
The Gaunt girl had an absentminded expression. It was odd to see the quiet girl among the rowdy Slytherin Quidditch team. The only half-smile she cracked was for her cousin.
Aidan Lynch wouldn't be home this summer. He would be off training with the Irish team. She was going to be alone in the house. She was going to be reminded how much of weight she carried in her shoulders.
Harry Potter. Harry Potter. Harry Potter.
The only name that could be heard at dinner. She wanted to roll her eyes desperately. She wasn't trying to undermine the boy, but she was certain that the boy had sheer dumb luck that followed his every move.
She tried to uphold her bloodlines. She spent countless hours in the library, replenished in the comfort of knowledge. She had planted the clue so that Hermione Granger could pick up the textbook on Nicholas Flamel. She knew that Quirrell was behind this.
She did not feel well around him. And that day in the forest when she unleashed a Patronus charm, she did it so she could see better. She saw that Voldemort was facing backward, whilst Quirrell's body faced the other way. She knew everything.
She was letting the boy take the victory because she was afraid. Voldemort could not know who she is, or who her parents were. He couldn't know that there was another heir to Salazar Slytherin. He couldn't know that Maeve the witch queen blood cursed in her veins.
