Could've Been

The couple viewed the apartment they found, instantly falling in love with the crisp white walls, the large windows and the overall clean and homey feel to it.

The BAU had helped buy furniture, move everything in and decorate the space to make it feel like Spencer and Liz's home.

One wall of the living room was completely covered by a shelf, tons of books resting with barely any wall being seen. The large windows provided a light that Liz immediately fell in love with, and wished she could leave them open when Spencer insisted on having sheer white curtains. In the center of the room sat a glass coffee table which rested upon a plush, fuzzy light gray carpet. A small television rested against the wall on a small shelving unit that housed even more books.

The kitchen was the opposite of what it used to look like at Spencer's apartment. Unlike her boyfriend, Liz was a cooking prodigy and loved having a full and organized kitchen. Jarred spices sat on racks, appliances were in corners and cleaned. The breakfast bar adorned a bowl of fruit.

One spare bedroom had been done nicely with the same white and light gray theme, ready for any guest to come and crash in while the other bedroom was littered with case files and old junk that mostly came from Liz's apartment. Things to do with her and her father.

Spencer would say that his favorite part of the house was upstairs where their bedroom was. He loved the way Liz decorated it with a four poster bed, a vanity, closets and how she obsessed over the open view of the city through the massive windows. He loved it.

The couple did make sure the entire house was sporting pictures of themselves, their families, their milestones, and it made the house really feel like theirs. The apartment didn't feel plain and white. It looked exactly how anyone would imagine Liz and Spencer's house to look, gorgeous and simplistic. Every little thing had a meaning.

The morning light slid past the sheer white drapes, glazing over the bedroom and interrupting Liz and Spencer's slumber. She opened her eyes, fluttering them every now and then before shooting up into an upright position with a gasp. This woke up the sleeping man beside her and made the rather large dog that sat on the foot of the bed perk up. "Penny, wake up! We're late and the car is out of gas, we have to take the train." Liz groaned, hitting his head with a pillow.

"Yeah, I'm up." Spencer slurred, forcing Liz to roll her eyes. She pet the dog fondly, puckering her lips at it. "Mommy and daddy will be back in a few hours, baby. Who's a good boy, Teddy? You are!" She cooed, a grin on her face as she watched the dog get excited.

"Sometimes I think you love the dog more than me."

The couple made it up and out of their door, grabbing their go cups of coffee and heading for the train just after Liz slipped on one of her boyfriend's cardigans.

They got off, arms linked as they attempted to race up the stairs leading into the street, however Spencer wasn't too athletic. Their journey was interrupted by a young man, a teenager perhaps. "You're Dr. Reid, and you're Elizabeth Bundy! You're very pretty." The boy blushed, making Liz giggle. "Thank you."

"I'm sorry, do we know you?" Spencer narrowed his eyes.

"I just know what you guys do. I saw you, Dr. Reid, in Georgetown a few weeks ago, you gave a lecture on sexual sadism and how you and Ms. Bundy helped catch the Mill Creek Killer in St. Louis. Then I saw Ms. Bundy a little while later, and you gave a lecture on characteristics and identifying sadists and psychopaths, and what the differences are and how you recognize a budding psychopath or sadist." The boy explained. Liz and Spencer felt the smiles grow on their faces.

"Really? Thanks for coming, call me Liz, by the way."

"I thought you seemed cool." The boy dipped his head slightly in embarrassment.
