"Spencer?" Liz blurted, closing the door behind her. "What are you doing here? Who is with the kids?"

Vanessa straightened up with the rest of the team from the observation room. "Alright, everyone quiet. We shouldn't be doing this, but we're going to anyways."

Natalie smirked. "Damn right, we are."

"They're with Morgan. You did good."

"When did you get here?"

"Around an hour ago. We need to talk, I can't keep going on like this." Liz shook her head.

"Spencer, this is a supervised room. The team I just worked with is on the other side of that glass, if you want to talk, we'll go somewhere private."

"Please tell me they're not about to leave." Paul groaned.

"Shut up!" Vanessa huffed.

"No! They should know we weren't always like this." Spencer ran a hand through his hair. "On January 15th, everything was fine. Everything was perfect. Then January 16th came, Maeve happened, and everything was ruined."

Spencer was right. Their marriage had suddenly flipped over and fizzled out in one day. "I know, Spencer, I'm sorry. You know I'd give anything to bring her back. We both know it was supposed to be me that day, not her." A faint crack made its way to her voice.

"Oh god, this is intense."

"I don't understand how you were so okay with that! With dying!"

"I wasn't! I wasn't okay with it. But I wasn't going to let Maeve get hurt."

"Why? I don't think in the hours you were together you became best friends. She wasn't an Emily, or JJ or Garcia to you! So why?"

Liz bit back tears, afraid of her own answer. "Because she made you happy. All those months I thought it was me, or the kids, but it was her. She made you happier and she probably would've made a better mother, too." Spencer almost scowled.

The women behind the mirror gasped while the men raised their eyebrows, all of them completely shocked. "Holy shit. It's a bloody civil war in there."

"You made me happy, too. Dee and Lyle can't ask for a better mother because they already have the best! God, Elizabeth, you make it sound like I was having an affair! I never even got to physically touch her!"

"It could've been an emotional one! You're telling me that if you saw her everyday like you see me, it would've turned into a physical affair? Is that what you're saying?" Liz chastised.

Tony almost snorted. "He got himself caught in that one."

"Of course not!"

"She loved you, Spencer." He took another deep breath.

"I know."

She scoffed, pulling a chair out and sitting down. "Were we ever meant to be?" Spencer's face contorted into one of confusion. "Think about it. First it was JJ, then Lila, then that bartender but nothing happened. Chip, Matthew,"

"And Hotch." He voiced. It was Liz's turn to be confused.

"How did you know?"

"After our fight, I went to look for you. I went to his apartment. His top smelled like your perfume and there was a glass of wine with your lipstick print on the rim. I got the idea."

Vanessa's head was in her hands as she inwardly screeched. "They're so in love with each other, yet they have all this shit. Kiss and make up already!"
