"Remind me how long you've been with the bureau, Agent Reid?"

"Almost 9 years."

"A lot has happened since then. Sabbaticals, transfers, reassignments. Four of you remained in the unit?"

"Yes. Dr. Reid and I did take a sabbatical for a little bit. Agents Rossi, Morgan and Jareau were there with out tech analyst Penelope Garcia. I did participate in the case of Ian Doyle."

"How long did the investigation take?"

"2 days."

"How can an investigation be active for just two days when the gathering of intel took months? There's surveillance and hundreds of man-hours to prove it. How often do you spend months on a case, Agent?"

"We don't, but this one was-"

"Personal?"

"Different. It required a lot of meticulous detail."

"If this was too big for your team, why wasn't it a joint taskforce?"

"We didn't have time, sir. Once the subject was confirmed, we had to act quickly."

JJ, Liz and Morgan sprinted up the stairs, swinging the door open and scanning the room for any sign of Doyle. They each parted ways as Liz made her way to a door, carefully opening it and pointing out the open ceiling. "He's heading to the roof!"

She made her way up, gun raised. She tried not to shudder at the cold air, but she couldn't worry about it when someone had just launched themselves at her. Doyle.

Her gun had vacated a few feet away, leaving Liz to fend for herself. She was skilled at hand to hand combat, but she'd rather put a bullet between Doyle's eyes. She threw punch after punch, now allowing Doyle to even touch her.

She saw her chance, crawling over to her gun. Her journey was interrupted by a harsh kick to her abdomen, which she forced herself to recover from to kick Doyle away. Running as quickly as she could, she picked up her gun, keeping her eyes trained on Doyle who was now running across the roof.

"I've got the shot, Agent."

"Don't take the fucking shot!" She ran after him, finally meeting him a few feet away. "I got him."

Ian Doyle turned to her, arms raised in surrender. "Want to kill me yourself, Agent?"

"Do you realize what you've done?"

"Yes. We put an international criminal with terrorist connections in federal custody."

"You may consider that a victory, but you used government funds for a personal vendetta, never called Homeland Security, and now 6 people, including two of your agents, are dead. Interpol, Europol, the CIA. No one could locate Ian Doyle, except you and Agent Morgan."

"It wasn't easy. Doyle disappeared underground. Agent Morgan and I did our investigations separately but had the same outcome."

"It looks like you and Agent Morgan spent the first few months following Doyle's arms-dealing contacts but came up empty. So, how did you find him?"

"After hitting dead ends in that world, I put myself in Doyle's shoes and I knew that he would be looking for his son, Declan."

"You don't believe in the system."

"Ian Doyle wasn't at the top of anyone's list, Senator."

"Except yours."

"Agent Morgan watched Declan for 2 months, and when he located Doyle he came to me. He called our unit chief, Agent Hotchner, before initiating any assault."
