Hanako's eyebrow twitched as she sat atop a pile of various objects, trying to balance herself.

"So what exactly am I supposed to be doing again?" She asked irritably.

"Meditation. If you do this, you'll be able to gather ethernano in the air much faster and in larger quantities, thus increasing your magic power. And despite the people of this world not having any magic, the air is rich with ethernano. But aside from that, when you're fighting Achnologia, you're not going to have any time to rest up and gather magic, so you'll be learning to multitask."

"Can't we just spar instead?"

An orb then flew past her cheek, almost knocking her off balance.

"No. This will help you out in the long run, so do it."

The dragon slayer sighed.

"Get ready."

Not even a second later a barrage of Ultear's orbs came crashing down, causing Hanako to completely lose her balance and plummet to the ground - which was about twelve feet away.

"OW!! What was that for?!" The dragon slayer shouted, rubbing the back of her head.

"I told you that you're not going to have time to rest and gather ethernano, didn't I? This is how you'll learn to multitask. Now, get back up there."

Hanako shivered at the glint in Ultear's eyes.

"Yes ma'am!"

And so, for the rest of the day she did her best to avoid death by Ultear.

The next day was the same brutal training.

"Do we really have to do this again?" Hanako asked, rubbing her now sore back. She had taken a lot of falls thanks to Ultear.

"Do you want to die while fighting Achnologia and lead this world to its doom?"

The girl rolled her eyes, knowing Ultear was right.

The third day of internships was no exception, the dragon slayer collapsing on the ground by the end of the day's training.

"Dammit, I'm sore..."

"At least you've been making progress. I'll let you rest for today. We can start back up again tomorrow," Ultear said.

"...Okay."

The dragon slayer stood up, stretching a bit to relax her muscles.

She looked up to the orange sky, soaking in the day's last rays of sun.

BOOM!!!

The sudden explosion brought Hanako out of her stupor.

"What was that?!" Ultear asked frantically.

"I don't know - it looks like a building just exploded," the girl replied.

"We should go check it out. If this is the work of the league Achnologia is sure to be here somewhere."

Nodding, Hanako followed Ultear into the now chaotic city. There was fire everywhere, courtesy of all the explosions.

People were panicking and heroes were fighting...nomus?!

"What are those things?" The time wizard wondered.

"They're nomus. I fought one at the USJ."

"Right. I'll stay here and help the others fight them off, you go and see if anyone else needs help. There might be people trapped nearby with all the explosions."
