Ash POV

"Hey welcome back Peter! Flash you're back to first alternate."
Flash angrily through his jacket at Parker.
Parker is back on the academic Decathlon team so that's how he's going to Washington now my turn.

"Wait what's she doing here?"
Flash said pointing to me with my duffle bag.
"Oh right. everyone, Ash here is coming with us to watch. Mr. Stark wants her involved as possible. Maybe she'll even join the team one day."
Mr. Harrison explained with a smile.
"Oh I'll help her get involved." Flash says walking over with a smirk. Dirty thoughts are all I read in his mind.
"Hey Ash do you want to sit with me?"
Ben said coming to my rescue.
"Yeah that'd be great."

With that we all loaded up on the bus.
I'm looking out the window as Ben is next to me on his phone.
"Thank you. Though I don't need you to rescue me every time." I said looking at him with a smile.
He smiled back.
"You're welcome and I know. But at least you let me. Many women these days wouldn't let a guy rescue them."
"Well Winter taught me to be a Lady while being a Warrior."
"As  all women should be." He said with a smile.
I took my earbuds out,plugged them into my phone and put my calm playlist on shuffle while watching the team practice.

Ben POV

We stopped practicing when we got into washington.
Ash was asleep on the window so I tried to move her onto my shoulder only for her to wake up.
"Hey."
"Hi."
"Didn't mean to wake you."
"It's ok. Where are we?"
She asked now sitting up and turning to look out the window.
"Here."
Her whole body language changed to tense as we saw them Still cleaning up after the helicarrier situation 4 years ago.
"Can't believe they are still cleaning up."
"Yeah."

Ash POV

We got to the convention center and found our rooms.
I'm sharing with Betty and Michelle.

I just left a note to Mr. Harrison saying that I was going for a walk.

I want to see if a certain place is still here.

"And where are you going?"
I turned to see Ben leaning up against the wall.
"Just going for a walk."
"Where?"
"Nowhere."
He gives me a look that says "liar."
"I'm going to see if a place is still here."
"Ok sounds fun. I'm in."
"Ok so you're coming with me."
"Yeah."
With that we left.
I used landmarks I remembered and here we are.

"What is this place?"
"This is where Winter and I were. The last base we were held in."
"You were in a bank?"
"I was Under the bank."
I said bending under the caution tape going in.
"Uh Ash. Caution tape. Mean anything to you? Ok guess not."
He said now following me.

"It smells like blood." He said looking around.
"Probably from the 6 guards I killed."
He looked at me with shock at which I just smiled.
We kept walking till I stopped.

"Ash?" He said turning around to see I had stopped. He came back to me and saw what I was looking at.
"This was our room."
I walked in slowly as if in a trance.
The bed is where it was.
The desk too.
"You slept here?"
"Yeah."
"The bed's so small."
"We were lucky to have a bed sometimes." I said with a chuckle sitting down on the bed.
"I was tiny so he would lay on his back while I was on his chest. He would tell me stories and memories till I fell asleep."
I said smiling at the memory as he sat down next to me.
"Did they ever tell you? Like yay! We're going to america." He said with sarcastic happy voice.
"Haha no. They would just pack us up. Though if I was lucky they would forget to fully cover the windows so I would look out as we traveled. Hehe when I was 8 I had this kinda sad dream that maybe next time we go one of the guards would break us out take us somewhere better. safer."
"And?"
"That dream died when I was bored one day and was just reading  the minds of everyone in here. There wasn't a kind soul in this whole building."
"I'm sorry."
"It's fine. We should probably go."
I got up but he was still sitting there.
"Ben?"
"If I had one power it would be time travel. So I could go back and get you out before you went through this hell." He says looking down sadly.

"I don't regret it. I wouldn't change it. My past made me who I am."

"I know. I just think you're too young and beautiful to have so many scars."
He is now standing in front of me playing with the ends of my hair.
"My scars remind me that I've survived what many haven't."
"I'm glad you did."
"I am too. Ben I'm glad I have you on my side. For the longest time it was just Winter and I against the world. I guess I need to expand my team a little."
"I'd be honored."
He takes my hand gently as we walked out of the bank. Leaving that part of my past behind.

*Ring ring ring*
"Yeah Parker?"
"Where are you? I have a plan. And where's Ben? I can't find him anywhere."
"Parker you're on speaker and Ben's here."
"Great. Ok Ash how long can you fly for?"
"As long as needed if I don't get shot down."
"Perfect."
"Peter what's the plan?"
I'll tell you when you get here. Oh wait Ben. You're with Ash right now. Hummmm."
"Ok bye!" Ben ends the call.

"Haha what was that?"
"Uh nothing. Guy stuff."
"You're very lucky I'm not reading your mind." With that I walk away.

Ben POV
"Yeah I'm extremely lucky." I say quietly with a sigh.

Ash POV

We got back to the hotel and are in Parker and Ned's room.
"So plan. Go."
"You two are staying here while Ash and I go to where the tracker says they are. Ash can you carry me?"
"Yeah just web yourself to my foot then I'll fly us there for some parts."
"Great. We leave in 5."

I left to go to my room to change into my suit.
I decided maybe not to actually change into my suit because it's kinda cold, people know who I am so I don't have to hide my identity and I can fight fine in a hoodie and jeans.
I changed into that instead when a knock was at my door.
"Ugh Parker I'm coming. Geez."
I opened it and saw Ben.
"Ben?"
"Hey. Uh I wanted give you this before you go. It's just in case for some reason you can't use your real phone. I gave one to Peter too."
He said handing me a burner phone.
"You just have burner phones on you?"
"For special occasions. Yes."
We both laughed at that.
"Thanks."
"No problem. Hey can you promise me something?"
"Depends but I'll try."
"Don't die. Either of you."
"I'll try my best."
"Great." With that he kissed my cheek then left.

I flew up to see Parker on the roof over to pool watching Liz.
"You still want to go?"
"We have to. With great power comes great responsibly. Our responsibility is to keep them safe. Let's go."
And we are off.
