He had seriously thought that she would be excited when he told her that their next mission would be underwater.

He had expected her eyes to go wide with glee as she thought of all the possibilities for their new assignment- but, no.

"Underwater?" she had asked.

"Yes, underwater," Anakin repeated, confused.

"Oh."

"Hope you're a good swimmer!" he had teased as he tossed her the standard wet suit that the council had provided. Her lekku flushed in embarrassment as she stared at the floor.

"Snips? Is something wrong?"

"No... nothing's wrong."

And so he ended the conversation there, not realizing that it would make much more sense later.

He had caught his Padawan sneaking out of their quarters early the next morning to go down to the training pool.

"What are you doing?" he had asked, startling her as she stood at the edge of the water.

"Just... practicing for the mission," she had replied. Anakin had given her his best unconvinced face, waving her over to him.

"You don't know how to swim." It was a statement, not a question. Ahsoka's head shook slightly, her eyes boring into the floor as she refused to face her Master.

"No one ever taught me."

"Well, as your master, it seems that we have a new lesson to cover."

And that was how Obi-Wan, Anakin, and Ahsoka had found themselves at the training pool later that afternoon, all dressed in identical wet suits.

"Why exactly am I here?" Obi-Wan asked, testing out the water with his foot.

"You taught me how to swim, so I figured that you should help me teach Ahsoka. Besides, she's sort of your padawan too," Anakin explained.

"I'm not doing all the work for you," Obi-Wan teased, easing himself into the pool. "Alright, let's get-"

"WAAAHOOOO!!!!" came Anakin's yell as he cannon-balled into the water, splashing both Obi-Wan and Ahsoka in the process.

"-started."

"So... do I just...?" Ahsoka began, taking a few steps back like Anakin had before making his jump.

"Do not do what Anakin-"

Splash!

"-did."

Ahsoka landed between her two masters, arms flailing as she struggled to keep herself afloat. Each of them grabbed onto one of her wrists, holding her steady.

"Okay. Now what?" she asked.

"Well, now you stop digging your nails into my wrist," Anakin grumbled.

"Sorry," she muttered unapologetically, releasing her grip a little.

"Alright, now kick your legs back and forth... good. This is called treading the water," Obi-Wan explained. "Now, when you're ready, let go of my arm."

Ahsoka nodded nervously. After a few moments, she unscrewed her hand from Obi-Wan's grip. He swam a few inches back. Almost instantly, Ahsoka began to panic, slipping down side ways in the direction where Obi-Wan had been.

"Easy, Snips," Anakin commented, reaching forward for her free arm as Obi-Wan climbed up to sit on the ledge of the pool.

"I've got this," Ahsoka promised, looking Anakin straight in the eye.

"Just kick your legs... back and forth... that's it!" he cheered as she let go of both of his hands, keeping herself steadily afloat.

"Okay... what's next?" Ahsoka questioned, staring carefully at her feet as if she were afraid they would stop holding her up if she looked away.

"Yeah, what's next?" Anakin echoed, looking to Obi-Wan. The older man arched an eyebrow.

"You tell me," he replied smugly. Anakin sighed.

"Um... okay, come here," he said, waving Ahsoka over. She glared at him.

"Master, the whole point of this lesson is that I don't know how to do that," she hissed.

"What are you laughing at?" Anakin snapped, looking at his chuckling master.

"I love karma," Obi-Wan replied with a smile. Anakin tossed him a glare before closing the distance between himself and Ahsoka.

"WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!" she screamed as he tipped her forward.

"TEACHING YOU TO SWIM, YOU NIMROD!" he countered, settling one hand on her stomach, and the other just above her knees.

"IF YOU TILT ME FORWARD ANY FARTHER, YOU'RE GOING TO DROWN ME!" she shouted. Anakin dunked her head into the water to shut her up. She was fuming as she broke through the surface.

"I'm going to kill you," she stated simply.

"Only if you catch me," Anakin responded smugly, paddling himself away. Ahsoka stayed where she was, carefully treading the water as she had been taught. She narrowed her eyes, determination written all over her face as Anakin moved steadily further from her.

"Just do what he does," Obi-Wan urged her, gesturing at Anakin. She quickly memorized the way that he pushed the water behind himself, kicking his legs in the process.

"Alright," she responded after a few seconds. She took a deep breath, and dove under the surface, propelling herself forward with each stroke.

"YOU'RE DOING IT!" Anakin cheered, stopping as she made her way over to him. She tackled him in what he thought was a hug. He quickly realized that she had ulterior motives as she pushed him below the surface.

He quickly swam back up, a playfully angry look on his face. He wrapped his arms around her from the back, prodding his fingers into her stomach. She writhed around, exploding with laughter as he tickled her.

"Let... go... of... me!" she giggled, kicking his shins with her heels. Suddenly, she felt Anakin's arms being pried off of her as Obi-Wan swam over to them to join the fun.

"Yet another similarity between you two- you have the same tickle spot," he said, raising his eyebrows at Ahsoka. She instantly understood what he was saying as they both launched themselves at Anakin.

"No!!!" Anakin cried, trying to wiggle out of their grasp as they both attacked him. Using the force, he sent a wave of water at both of their faces. "WATER WAR, YOU'RE IT!" he shouted, nearly smacking Obi-Wan in the face as he tagged him.

"Come on, Snips!" he called, grabbing Ahsoka's hand to help her swim away more quickly.

The laughter echoed throughout the room for almost another hour.

Mace Windu glanced through the glass walls of the room that held the training pool. He rolled his eyes as the Kenobi-Skywalker-Tano team attacked one another with splashes.

"Every man for himself!" he heard Skywalker yell.

"And woman!" Tano followed up, laughing.

"And woman!" Skywalker added.

"What a lineage..." Windu muttered to himself, shaking his head.
