"Who's on board that transport?" Anakin asked as the ship flew by.

"Oh, just some rookie pilots. Apparently on their first maneuvers," Admiral Yularen sighed. "I was just about to send a detachment to arrest them."

Anakin nearly laughed, but the sound got caught in his throat as something awakened in the back of his mind. Something...

light.

He looked down, furrowing his eyebrows for a moment before leaning into the feeling. His eyes closed serenely as his face bathed in the sunlight.

There was something- someone there... someone familiar.

Could they sense him too?

He concentrated harder, and could almost feel the surprise in their expression as they tentatively reached back to him.

He nearly gasped. He knew that bond like the back of his hand.

"Ahsoka."

The name slipped off of his tongue before he could even realize that he'd said it.

Admiral Yularen shook his head, deciding not to repeat his question to the General, who was clearly too caught up in his thought to answer.

"Did you say something?" Anakin asked, slowly drifting out of whatever daze he'd been in.

"I asked if I should hold on sending that detachment, but you didn't answer me. They'll be arrested in a few moments," the Admiral explained.

"No," Anakin whispered.

"Excuse me?" Yularen asked.

"Don't send a detachment... let them pass." His voice was soft, and full of more emotion than he normally let anyone other than Padme hear.

"I'm afraid it's too late, General. I'm sorry, but I've already sent it."

Anakin's lips parted for a moment before closing again, and his face scrunched up in thought. Ahsoka didn't want to see him right now- and he respected that -but maybe it was just the Force at work that the situation was now out of his hands.

"It's alright," he decided, crossing his arms over his chest. Then in a much quieter voice, "There's nothing we can do about it now."

Mere moments later, the presence he'd felt earlier swept over him like warm sunshine- the way she'd always felt in the Force.

He turned around slowly to see three girls climb on board the ship, one of them looking pissed, the other (the first's sister from the looks of it) scared, and the third... his wonderful little Padawan... she just looked confused.

Blue met blue as they both stared at each other.

Anakin uncrossed his arms from his chest, trying to keep the well of emotions burrowed beneath it under control.

"So, you arrested us," Ahsoka began, still holding firm eye contact with Anakin. "Nice."

Anakin swallowed hard.

"I didn't really mean to-"

"That's not even possible."

"Yularen arrested you. I tried to stop him, but he had already sent the detachment."

Anakin watched as the sisters' eyes flicked to one another and then back at Ahsoka, like they were waiting for some sort of explanation as to how she clearly already knew him.

Ahsoka didn't seem to notice.

She blinked twice before adjusting the sleeves on her jumpsuit (which was made from material that looked suspiciously like one of his wife's old outfits- had she visited with Ahsoka without telling him?).

"Well, I'll just clear things up with the Admiral, and you three will be free to go," Anakin continued with a nod of his head.

"Thank you," Ahsoka said, nodding back.

"Okay," Anakin replied, turning to go and talk with Yularen.

"Who's that?" Trace asked as soon as Ahsoka turned back to face the sisters.

"He's an old friend," Ahsoka replied grimly.

"He's hot," Rafa supplied. Ahsoka rolled her eyes.

"Wait," Trace began, lifting a finger. Ahsoka stiffened, worried that she might have figured out her identity as a Jedi.

"What?" she asked.

"He's your older brother, isn't he?!" she exclaimed, nearly jumping up and down. "The one you told me about!"

Ahsoka glance back to see if Anakin had heard her. He had paused from speaking with Yularen to glance over at her, giving her a small smile when he saw that she was looking his way as well.

She couldn't help the way that she smiled back before turning to face her friends.

"He... he is. How'd you know that?"

"I'm good at reading people," Trace replied with a shrug. Rafa raised an eyebrow. "Well, they were bickering the way you and I do, Rafa- like siblings."

"Yeah, we're siblings," Ahsoka laughed quietly, sparing another glance at Anakin. He walked back over to them.

"You're all good to go. Just stay out of military lanes from now on, okay?" he told them, his eyes resting on Ahsoka's the whole time.

"Will do, Anakin," Ahsoka replied, the same fondness in her voice that he had in his.

He watched as Trace and Rafa walked off, both of them turning to see why Ahsoka wasn't following behind.

"We should talk... soon," she said to Anakin. He dipped his head with a smile before bringing it back up to look at her.

"Definitely."

He stumbled backwards as she leaned her whole body against him, hugging tightly.

"Definitely," she echoed as he hugged her back. "Missed you."

"Missed you too... but I think you've got somewhere to be?" he asked, pulling back and holding her by the shoulders. "While I would love for you to stay and talk, I know that I taught you better than to abandon people when they need your help."

"You were the best teacher," she answered with a smile.

"I know," he answered, squeezing her shoulders before dropping his hands to his sides. "Now, go on- get out of here," he laughed.

"Okay," Ahsoka giggled. "Thanks for not arresting me!" she called over her shoulder as she ran off to her friends.

"Love you!" Anakin called back. Ahsoka turned around, jogging backwards towards Trace and Rafa, waving her hand at her brother and replying with a very genuine,

"Love you too."

today i have dealt with the sudden realization that my ap test is in 2 weeks and since it costs money i'm gonna have to pay my parents back when i inevitably fail, having to do a week's worth of hw in a day, some dude calling my friend and i 'racist white trash' on our yt channel, a sudden horrible lack of motivation to get anything done, the realization that i have to go back to school tomorrow-
