if you haven't gone and read emmy's new book or hopped on ao3 for AB (you don't need an account to leave kudos and comments!!) yet then what are you even doing?!

"It's just a scraped knee," Ahsoka protested, arms folded across her chest as Anakin carried her away from her friends.

"Still means that we've got to clean it up," Anakin replied, ignoring her squirming to get out of his hold. He rarely used his immense strength to overpower her, knowing all too well how that felt, but he did so now as he tightened his grip to secure her, as gently as he could.

"I can walk," she hissed, kicking.

"Oh, really? So can I," he said, bowing his head to Master Windu as he passed him by.

Ahsoka groaned, throwing her head back.

"Put me down."

"You'll get blood on the floor."

"I'm getting blood on you right now!"

"I don't mind."

"The floor probably doesn't either!" she exclaimed.

"Why don't you ask it?"

"Anakin," she growled, rolling her eyes as he opened the door to his quarters.

"Ahsoka," he repeated, imitating her voice as he set her down on top of his counter.

He turned around, standing high on his toes to reach a cabinet Ahsoka usually had to climb onto the counter to reach.

He pulled out a box of bandages and a bottle of cream before squatting down in front of her and unscrewing the bottle's lid.

"Rinse that towel under water for me?" he asked, pointing to an unused dishrag beside her.

She did as she was told, handing it off to him with a hmph.

"Alright, grumpy, let's get you cleaned up."

She watched him dab against the many cuts that now covered her knees from when she had tripped, trying not to wince in pain while he cleaned them out.

Despite her frustration at his coddling, a tiny part of her continuously whispered, let him have this. Just let him have this one thing.

He wanted to have someone to take care of—someone to make him feel needed.

Ahsoka guessed that she was it.

He worked with precision, as if he was performing a surgery, rather than fixing up a child's scraped knee.

For good measure, he ducked his head down to kiss the bandage, saying,

"Just like my mom always used to."

Ahsoka rolled her eyes, finding it difficult not to let out a quiet laugh as he rose up, tucking his hands under her armpits to help her hop off of the counter.

"Go play with your friends,"  he said with a smile, setting her down.

"Thanks for fixing me up... Anakin."

She skipped off, leaving him to wonder why exactly she hadn't used his title—not that he minded. He just... wasn't used to that.

It dawned on him hours later when they sat down for dinner together in their quarters, kicking each other in the shins under the table until they were laughing so hard that they couldn't eat for fear of choking, that he didn't feel like a 'Master' at the time.

No, he felt entirely like something else.

Like a big brother.
