It was morning Wesley had fallen asleep with a comic on his face. He heard a knock on his door it was his mom. She gave a big smile and rubbed his stomach. She clearly saw Wesley as a baby still. "Good morning baby it's time to wake up there's a warm breakfast for you downstairs if you want it in your room I'll be happy to bring it to you upstairs." She smiled. "No it's fine I'm coming let me wash up." Wesley smiled at his mother. "Ok baby see you downstairs." She looked around his room the room was huge but it was so distant from the rest of the house. "Why did you choose this one?" She asked. "Because it's quiet." He said.
She smiled and nodded then left closing the door behind her.

Wesley got up and brushed his teeth and washed up. He put on brown trousers with a collared white top. He didn't quite know how to do his hair yet. His mother always did it for him. He shrugged it off and put on his glasses and proceeded to the dining room. There we were greeted with brown faces. Wesley frowned he didn't know they would start working so soon. He also couldn't believe how his father let them. If someone said they hated negros more than his father that would be a myth. They were going around passing the plates. "Ah, there's my boy!" Wesley sat next to his father around the table.

"Good morning father," Wesley said. Wesley looked over to his mother and see the stress on her face from all these people moving around her house. Casey for one felt the opposite she loved having maids do her bid and boss them around she loves every bit of it since they started working she has been ordering them.
"I want more bread!" She yelled. "You come out more milk in my tea make it white!" Her yelling was the most annoying sound. Wesley knew they were bad people. He never questioned why.

"Since we have the family together shall we share the grace," Joe said. Everyone held hands the help exited the dining room. Wesley understood why.  father told him that god does not like negros. He told him that's why they serve a different god. Wesley closed his eyes and bowed his head.  "Father we come to you to Thankyou for this day we ask that you bless us as we come and go Amen."  The rest of the family said "Amen."  Wesley began eating his food it tasted so good. He couldn't get enough.

The black woman came in she was a lighter skin complexion. This caught the eye of many including joe. Mary eyed her husband. "Would you like some more Mr hunter?"  Wesley was going to say yes until his mother interrupted her. "No, he would not he had enough you are dismissed ." Wesley frowned. "But mother-" Mary eyed her son Wesley slumped in his chair. He scoffed and then left the table. Now he's acting like Casey. Wesley went upstairs.

Time has last and it was afternoon. Wesley was just eyeing the green space and field he had been couped up in this room all day avoiding his family and the help. Wesley finally decided to gather his stuff and go outside. It was hot very hot he unbuttoned the top bottoms of his shirt and sat on the green grass and began reading looking to get a good view of the field.

While reading Wesley felt a strong breeze pass his body. How could there be wind in the summer in the south it was odd to him. That's when Wesley heard humming. The humming was sweet and soft. Wesley raised his eyebrows. "That's weird." He said. He put down his comics and began to follow the humming going into the cotton field. As Wesley got closer the humming got louder he saw a brown small leg laying out behind a tree. Someone was behind me, he wanted to see. He was still far from it but he could reach it if he walked a little bit clo-   "Hey idiot! It's time for supper don't keep us waiting! Or Imma have to beat you up!" Casey said. She went back into the house. Wesley looked at the tree and the leg was gone Casey probably scared them away. Wesley sighed. "'Maybe next time."  He walked away.
