"Mary I know you ain't over there yawning" my mom laughed while she looked at me in the passenger seat half asleep

"You got me out of my bed at 7:30 in the morning about doing your hair. Why couldn't we just do it at my house"

"Because I need to know what hair to get"

"So you couldn't just FaceTime me when you got to a hair store"

She rolled her eyes "you're a licensed cosmetologist Mary. People will be calling you for early morning appointments all the time"

"My office hours are from 9-5" I mumbled while closing my eyes

"You know what. Let's talk about something else before you make me push you out the car"

I laughed "like what?"

"You and Meechie. Are y'all back together yet?"

"Let's talk about something else"

"Why don't you like to talk about him"

"Cause. It's nothing to talk about. We ain't ever getting back together"

"And why not? I loved him"

"Well you date him. I'm pretty sure daddy won't mind"

"Mary"

"I'm sorry momma, but you know I don't like to talk about him"

"Running from your problems won't solve them Mary"

"That why I'm just chilling. I'm not running"

She shook her head while turning into the parking lot of a little plaza. She pulled up in an empty space and looked over at me

"Come on"

"Ma that store don't open until 8"

"What did I say?"

I sighed and took my seatbelt off, getting out of the car and followed her. She walked past the hair store and over to the space two doors down

"Where we going?"

She reached into her pocket and pulled out a key, holding it up before unlocking the door to the space. As I followed her in I looked around and saw that it was a cute little hair salon decorated with a pink and white theme and it was beyond beautiful

"Waittttt" I smiled and laughed looking at my mom. She reached the key out to me

"This is yours babygirl"

"Stop lying"

"I'm not. You think I'd get up this early in the morning to lie to you. Your dad was supposed to bring you but he had to deliver a baby this morning"

"Thank y'all!" I told her as I hugged her "this is Forreal?!"

"Yes Mj. You got your degree, you gaining new clients left and right so doing hair in your house needs to be something in the past. Your dad and I wanted to show you we were proud of you so.. this is yours"

I looked around still smiling from ear to ear. I honestly don't know what I would do without my parents cause this, most definitely.. I wouldn't even have my own shop or be where I'm at

"Ion know how ima pay y'all back for this"

"Keep doing what you doing. You doing great things babygirl" she told me while she sat down in one of the seats. She reached down up under the mirror and grabbed a bag, sitting it on top of the stand and pulled packs of braiding hair out so I can do her feed-in braids
