Legend has it Belle could read. The only girl that could where she was from. Every morning she'd stop by that little library and pick up the same thing. She loved romance, love was her favorite thing to read about out of everything she did.

They called her odd. Odd is a funny word. But if they meant not like the rest, then yes, yes she was odd. In the best ways she was odd.

Gaston would chase the younger girl to the ends of the Earth, and she'd still stay no. She wasn't sure what she wanted in life, but she was certain it wasn't him. She wanted adventure and life, he wanted a wife and kids. They could never make each other happy.

Her father was all she needed at the moment. Him and his inventions would be enough for her, after that she'd worry about her love life. She was grateful for him, as he was her. So when he would go away she'd miss him terribly; she knew better than to ask him to stay, he was fine leaving.

She asked for a rose; just like last year and the year before that, and every year before that. She was glad he brought one. Its beauty was enough for her. He rode off, and she watched, he'd come back, she reminded herself. He'd be alright.

Everything was boring, the same old life she lived for the last couple of years. Wondering about her mother and what she may be like now. It only made her sad, she wanted another book. Maybe that'd help. She got up and went to the library.

The walk there was wonderful, but the walk back proved to be difficult; after a certain someone found her. She felt herself groan. "Gaston," she said, the annoyance in her voice evident.

"Belle." He just stared at her for a minute. "I was wondering if you, Belle, would let me join you for dinner tonight?"

"Not tonight," she said, giving him a weak smile. He nodded her off. She couldn't believe him; everyday it was the same answer to the same question. She just walked home. Tired and cold she fell asleep, dreaming of something other than Gaston and his weird questions.

The next morning as she was tending to the garden she heard a familiar sound. Phillipe. She was excited until she realized he was alone. She forced the old horse to lead her to her father. It was a long journey; she would go it alone, she had too. She felt the temperature getting colder the further they traveled, until the green grass turned into white frosting over the ground. She wrapped her cloak tightly around herself, getting Phillipe to go faster. His hooves connected with the ground at lighting speed.

She found his latest project on the forest floor. She dared the horse to keep going. Belle wouldn't stop until her father was in her sights. They reached the end of the trees to be greeted by a massive castle; it towered over her as she rode closer.

Phillipe came to a stop as Belle hopped off of him charging inside. Only stopping when she heard soft voices inside. She paused. "Who's there?" her voice shook as she called out to the unknown voices. It hadn't occurred to her that someone might be inside and she was so in the moment it shocked her when she realized there was a figure at one of the doors.

"I could ask you the same thing," the voice said. It was soft and delicate; like Belle hadn't heard anything like it before, it was alluring. "May I ask why you are here?"

"M-my father," she recalled. "I fear he might've got lost in the woods and wound up here."

"Ah. Yes, I do believe an older man came staggering in. I am afraid I don't know where he is, you might want to speak with my brother; though I warn he can be quite scary."

"That is more than alright. I can handle myself. Take me to him please," she said. The voice returned a laugh. "Step into the light."

A girl appeared in front of her. She was pretty, (y/h/l y/h/c), (y/e/c) that she could get lost in. There was a moment of exchange between the pair as they took in each other's appearances. "I warned you. Come with me," the girl said. She followed loosely behind her, for the time she had forgotten completely in that moment.
