Life after the Battle of Hogwarts had become a rather mundane one for Cassandra Arcus. She couldn't help but miss her house of Ravenclaw, and all the beautiful friends she had made at the magical school.

Harry Potter had saved the day and now everyone had moved on. Deep down she hated it.

She had finished her last year and was swiftly sent back to the Arcus Manor, one of grandeur. This old money life should make her want for nothing, but she couldn't help but feel something was missing.

About a year ago, her parents had encouraged her to begin dating Adrian Pucey, as their families had been friends for quite some time and her father believed him to be a "suitable young man" (which really meant that he was of enough wealth and opulence to be considered a match). The only things that mattered to the family were blood status and money. The so called bringing together of the Arcus' and the Pucey's would be their next great success.

When her mother had oh so politely told her life had already been decided, Cassandra wasn't that upset. Adrian Pucey was a rather attractive man that everyone her family loved so, it could be a lot worse.

But she recalled all of their past dates and couldn't help but feel dreadful.

At Adrian's touch, she felt nothing.

No fireworks. No sparks.

Nothing.

This lack of feeling kept her up at night and deep down she knew this wouldn't work. That she couldn't do this. But she wasn't brave enough to speak up about it, so she packed her bags.

"Ready Cassandra?" Her mother called from down the hall, pulling Cassandra away from her inner turmoil.

Cassandra was packing her things as Adrian had asked her to move in with him last night. She desperately wanted to reject but both their families had been there, and the look of approval on her parent's faces... how could she say no?

"Would you stop daydreaming! I swear you've got to stop hanging out with that Lovegood girl," that last part her mother attempted to stay under her breath, not successfully.

This reminded Cassandra of her time at Hogwarts with her best friend Luna Lovegood, a rather odd girl which her parents hated, which made Cassandra like her even more. Luna had been the truest friend she had ever known, and she constantly wished she could ask her for advice.

There was a bright green flash of light downstairs indicating that Adrian was here. Great.

Cassandra grabbed the last of her things and started down the grand staircase, plastering on a fake smile.

"Ready?" Pucey stated, spitting his words. Cassandra frequently believed that he didn't want this either, as he was often cold towards her.

"Yes dear," she quickly gave him a kiss on the cheek and her father nodded, his signature look of approval. She waved goodbye as they took their floo to a large apartment and stepped out of the ornate fireplace.

The flat was breathtaking, any couple's dream home, but to her it was more like a nightmare.

It truly was glamorous, with its silver accents and ornamental design. Its various sculptures and the muted color on the walls felt like a perfect reflection of her.

These walls weren't what left her with dread.

The nightmare was having to share such a beautiful place with such a boring relationship. She couldn't shake the feeling that a place like this deserved to be loved in, deserved happiness.

She needed out.

"Care for a stroll?" She looked over to Adrian who clearly wasn't listening to her. She walked over to him and placed her hand on his shoulder, slightly nudging him. "Earth to Adrian! Mind joining me for a walk?"

She could have sworn she saw him roll his eyes but he popped up and gave her a quick peck on the lips as he took her hand. They left the flat and started on their way, both of them looking in different directions.

Moments like this Cassandra heard that nagging voice in her head, Walking hand in hand with your boyfriend should be romantic, enjoyable. I should feel butterflies, if that's even a thing.

But it had to be, right? All these beautiful love stories told throughout time...this passion had to be real.

Cassandra could only recall once where she had felt an undeniable attraction to someone, but that was years ago during a party at Hogwarts. She was a foolish school girl then and nothing more came of it.

She sighed to herself and looked over at Adrian. Maybe this was it, maybe they could grow to love one another.

As they turned the corner they approached a brightly colored shop, bustling with activity and the precious laughs of children. At this moment everything at Hogwarts came flooding back, as she remembered that night, and who she had felt that cliché "spark" with.

Her heart started beating faster as they walked by, and she caught a glimpse of him...

George Weasley.
