Buona Forchetta, Milan, Italy

The restaurants along the Navigli Grande started to close an hour before midnight. By 12 AM, the choices were even pared down to a few and not all of them were serving pizza.

Seri grew frustrated, scanning menus and being turned down because her craving was not being served. But every rejection would be soothed by Jeong-hyeok's waiting arm as they continued their stroll down the canal that was less clogged by locals and tourists alike.

"You're wearing the clothes I ordered from New York." Seri noted, touching the garment. "They look good on you."

"They arrived a day before my flight. I figured I might as well take some with me." Jeong-hyeok watched his partner, from her curled come-hither eyelashes, the slight raise of her nose tip, to the glossy cupid bow of her lips that would dispense some witty words, pout occasionally but would settle with an upturn curve at the outer edges. How lucky was he that he was the man by her side. "Do you want to tell me what happened earlier?"

"After we eat. I don't want to lose my appetite." Seri stopped minding his shirt and looked ahead, "How about that place?"

She indicated a narrow gastropub, tables too cramped inside for Jeong-hyeok's taste. There were big bearded men standing outside looking to lure customers that made Jeong-hyeok physically cart Seri away.

Jeong-hyeok could spy another heartbreak as Seri negotiated with the wait staff but he stood in the way and crossed his hands against each other while showing the closed sign on the door. Seri was crestfallen and turned away, Jeong-hyeok was prepared to convince her that they could visit the best pizzerias in Milan the next evening but Seri turned back to the staff with her hands clasped together as though in prayer. Then she pointed towards Jeong-hyeok's direction, much to the pilot's confusion. The waiter's eyes met Jeong-hyeok's before he asked Seri to wait. And before Jeong-hyeok knew it, they were being ushered to one of the outdoor patio tables with an umbrella overhead. Seri beckoned at Jeong-hyeok enthusiastically like a hyperactive lucky cat figurine.

"They said it's okay?" Jeong-hyeok asked her as they pulled their chairs.

Seri nodded, "I made a convincing story they can't say no to."

"What?" Jeong-hyeok opened the menu on the table.

"I told them we just got engaged." Seri winked.

" Seri winked

The pizzas arrived to them freshly brick-oven-baked in heart-shaped form.

"Complimenti a tutti e due." The waiter congratulated them and left them to their meal.
