Clothes maketh a man, but not necessarily a classical musician. The beauty about being a pianist was that the choice of clothes was of little consequence in their profession. It was either black or white, basic and smart. No one attended their performances expecting a fashion show, the audience was there to listen to the music and wearing anything flashy would distract them unless they were the singer. As such, clothes were at the bottom rung of necessities Lee Jeong-hyeok paid attention to. As long as they were comfortable, clean, neatly ironed and warm, he was content. So his closet was populated with monotonous sweaters, coats, blazers, crisp button down shirts and turtlenecks, the latter being as basic to him as a classic white shirt. They were functional as they were versatile in casual and more dressier occasions. The pilot uniform consisting of a white shirt, navy blazer and black trousers became a natural addition to his wardrobe.

His former girlfriend would try to subtly add some variety but respectful to his rather constrictive style code that was born from his pianist days. She had successfully added some mellow blues.

His current girlfriend in the meantime has started introducing warmer autumnal colors from creme to khaki, from burgundy to coffee browns. Brighter ocean blues and light yellows, for the spring and summer seasons she argued, were slated to follow.

Then began Jeong-hyeok's new role, as the boyfriend of a fashion mogul.

Her outfit that day was one of her casual get-ups with a roll-neck sweater and blue jeans, but throwing on a dramatic velvet-jacquard cape elevated the outfit significantly. Wearing her pair of oversized square sunglasses, completed her look like a chic Parisian, Jeong-hyeok almost didn't recognize her.

Their taxi drove to the upscale shopping district of Quadrilatero della moda located just behind their hotel. Encompassing four streets, the high-end fashion block is home to the city's luxury boutiques and ateliers. Many of the world's top fashion houses sit side by side in the area, together with trendy bars and cafes.

It was a place Jeong-hyeok didn't expect to be in. But his girlfriend took him by the hand to plunge into the neoclassical facades and porticoes of Via Monte Napoleone, one of Europe's most expensive streets. They passed by a throng of flagship stores with windows displaying ready-to-wear pieces and leather accessories that were paraded in recent fashion shows.

Seri stopped in front of the boutique, "Jeong-hyeok, I underestimated the time, I won't be able to join you for your fittings. But my friend will take care of you. I'll see you at the gala."

"But I can't speak—" Jeong-hyeok started to protest, holding Seri back.

"He knows English." Seri squeezed his hand, "Just two suits. You have the hotel card right? Just put them in the closet and enjoy the rest of your day."

This was a world that was foreign to Jeong-hyeok, he couldn't hide a grimace when he looked up at the shop name. "Can't I visit a department store, instead?"
