You Are To Me

You're the darkness to my light
You're the light to my darkness
You are the one who equals me
You are my better half, my dear

Life is full of pain, we know that
Yet together we have found joy
We have found a way to love
Even when it can hurt us so badly

Choices I have to make alone
Just seem harder now you're here
My once guarded and lonely self
Now struggles to handle isolation

I once thought I was strong enough
That love would never touch me
Even when I thought I had it all
Then you come along and break it

That image has become shards
And I realize how weak I was
When being with you is bliss
And then I know that I am strong

A few before you tried to help me
But I was just too stubborn to see
That being in love was a good thing
And would help me become better

I had a bright light try to guide me,
A flickering light tried to as well once,
But now a gentle light guides me,
And that light is you, my dearest

You are the one who lifts my heart,
The one who makes me feel so alive,
And the ruler of my renewed heart.
That is who you are to me, my love.

A/N: I might just start posting all my backlog of sappy poems since they seem to be glaring at me in my collection of poems, but I'll try to transfer some of the other ones over to here as well from my laptop. Have a great day, my dear readers!
