Guiding Light

You were the light that guided my way through the dark.
You shone so brightly, but when you came closer to me
I panicked and harmed your light and now you're gone.

I stumble about and curse myself for my rash choices,
Until I spot a bright light trying to lead me on my path,
Which just might lead me back to you and other people.

The light is so bright that I can hardly see where I step,
And I stumble and fall repeatedly just to rise up again.
I get distracted, but I will still follow that brilliant light.

I can't stop now that I've started on this better path, which will lead to the light.
