The common room had completely transformed into a cheerier one. Even the cold wind that had surrounded you seemed to take the hint and go bother someone else.

"Could you pass me the confetti?" You asked Sam, who handed it to you. She and all your friends had skipped several classes to decorate the common room for Regulus' party.

Well, it wasn't exactly a party, since there would only 5 people participating in it. Using Louis and the way he intimidated younger students, the four of you had completely closed off the room.

You knew the risks that came with the party, such as a teacher coming in and giving you detention for the rest of the year.

It was kind of selfish, yes, but then again, Regulus' birthday only happened once a year.

"Move, people! The cake is coming!" You heard Leo announce.

It was big, way bigger than you had expected it to be.

Since Regulus disliked frosting and any kind of overly sweet dessert, you had opted for a cheesecake.

You remembered him telling you back in fourth year. It had been only the two of you, during Sam's birthday.

She had a bit of a sweet tooth, so her parents had baked her a cake using only muggle ingredients.

You had seen Regulus sitting with an empty plate in front of him, so you asked. Ever since he told you that, you had never forgotten about it.

"Alright, there it is." Leo groaned, leaving the cheesecake on the table with all the food.

You didn't want to come off as obnoxious, but you guys had really done a splendid job.

"Are you completely sure no one will be able to come in?" Sam double-checked, eyes roaming across the room in wonder.

Louis nodded confidently, "No need to worry. Even if someone comes in, they'll probably get scared."

Sam raised her eyebrows, "Yeah, but only children will do that. What about fourth years? And fifth years? And sixth years? And seventh ye-"

"I get it, I get it. To avoid that, I may have asked some Hufflepuffs to organize a party."

She nodded, "Good, thank you."

She had started to walk away, but the brown-haired boy followed closely behind. "You know what I just remembered? You never told us who your secret lover was."

"You know what? You're right. Come here, I'll tell you." She got closer to his ear, cupping one of her hands so no one else in the room could read her lips. "Her name is... none of your business."

Louis pouted, moving away from the girl. "You're so mean."

Sam laughed, "I know." She turned around, making eye contact with you. "You know guards are supposed to guard the door, right?"

You were leaning against the wall, arms crossed over your chest. "Of course I know." You responded, looking out the door for the first time since you were assigned the guard role.

"Dammit!" You called out, watching the birthday boy approach the common room. "He's coming. Hide, hide!"

Hurriedly, Leo ran to turn off the lights. Everything was swallowed by complete darkness.
