—————The rest of the school day seemed to fly by.
Millie, Sadie and I were crowded around the lockers again, just like we had been that morning. They waited for me while I grabbed and shoved stuff into my bag. Suddenly, some figures had begun to approach. A familiar group of faces. Jayde, Vada, Louis, and Vinnie. I shut the door to my locker and put on my backpack, bracing myself for what was about to come of the situation.
"Hey, little sis!" Jayde said loudly.
"Hi?"
She cleared her throat before speaking.
"I just wanted to let you know that I'm throwing a little party, so you have to find somewhere else to stay the night. I'm sure Millie or Sadie will gladly let you stay at one of their places. I don't really care where you go, just don't be at home. M'kay?"I crossed my arms and painted on a sarcastic smile.
"Thanks for the heads up but unfortunately that's not gonna work out. I have to work on a project for school."She scoffed.
"Isn't that what libraries are for?"I couldn't help but to laugh a little.
"Uh, no. That's why they call it home-work. I'm going to be at home tonight. You can have your stupid party another day."Then she pulled out the pout.
"It can't be another day! Vinnie's parents are gonna be back home tomorrow.""Then throw it at someone else's house! I don't really care where it is, just not at home." At that point I'd grown annoyed.
"Whatever. Just wait until Mom hears about this. We have somewhere to be anyway."
Wow, what a big girl. Gotta pull the 'I'll tell Mom' card.
Louis spoke up for himself, drawing attention to the back of their small crowd where he was lingering.
"Actually.. I have plans with Joey. I'll see ya guys tomorrow."
He briskly slipped away into the flood of students that continued to storm through the halls.Miles walked up to the remainder of the group and sighed.
"Are you ready to go?" He asked, pointing his eyes in my direction."Yeah I think so." I replied, re-gripping the strap of my backpack.
Millie grabbed my shoulder and I turned around. She looked at me, confusion written on her face."Go where?" She asked me, raising her eyebrows.
I turned back around at the aching sound of my sister's voice.
"Um, yeah.. where are you guys going together?"
She asked shifting her eyes from me to him."He's coming over to work on that project I was talking about. You know.. the homework?"
Millie whispered into my ear, "Text us about it later."
The two girls scampered off together into the direction of the main doors where dozens of students were loitering, scurrying to their cars, making after school plans and whatever else. Before exiting the school completely, Sadie caught my eye and sent a funny wink in my direction. The two of them laughed their way out of school.Jayde tried to clarify it in her brain once more.
"So, you're hanging out with my freak of a sister?""We're not really 'hanging out' but, I guess? What's it matter to you?" Miles asks.
