Margo's POV

A week passed and things had been weird with Miles. They were tense. I called to discuss with him the change and he said he'd felt it too. I was starting to love the kid to be completely honest. I didn't want to, but just like everything else between us, it just sort of happened. I needed to situate whatever it was.

-

"Hey, Margo."

"Hi.."

"What's up?"

"Uh, so I know that you've still been coming over
to cover your bruises and all that but uh-"

"You don't think that's the only reason I've been
going over there, do you?"

"Well, I don't know, but.. I feel like something
has been a little off? Like, we haven't spent any actual
time together lately, and I mean that's fine, but I just
thought we were friends now and stuff, and-"

"We are friends. I know things have felt a
bit different, I've just been stressed out."

"See? We agreed we could go to each other with things
like that. I'm still here for you, you know that."

"I know you are, but I don't want you to get
yourself any more involved. I care about you."

"I care about you too."

"No, I mean it though, Mar. I care about
you so much. And I want to make up for all the time we've
lost. You deserve to have fun, and get high, and do the
things you want. You deserve to give love and to be loved
in return. Let's meet tonight and I'll tell you
everything."

"Okay, yeah. Fine."

"But, one thing."

"What, Miles?"

"Don't hate me."

"You know I can't."

"No, I mean it. Please, don't."

"We'll have to see."

"The park at eight?"

"Yeah."

"I'll bring the bong."

I chuckled and hung up.

-

To the park I had gone. He was laying in the grass when I got there, the glow of the moon casting over his body, his eyes shut, his stuff set down next to him. I approached and joined him in the grass, laying on my side and placing a gentle kiss to the side of his head. His eyes fluttered open and a smile played on his lips.

"Hi."

He turned his head to look at me and stared straight at my face.
"I've missed you."
We each turned back to back.
"You know?"
