—————That night had sped on by. It had gotten so late that mom felt the need to call and make sure I wasn't dead. At first, she was nearing livid status but quickly distinguished her uprise when I'd told her who I was with. I had found myself confused.
"I trust Miles."
She'd said. "He's a good kid."Of course he found the situation humorous but respected my mom's wishes and sent me on my way. It'd been a school night after all. I wish I could've said that the moment my head hit the pillow, I'd fallen straight into sleep.. but that's not what actually happened. I started thinking about Miles. I hated it.
Why him?
What made tonight so different that he would
completely change? Was this only a one night ordeal?
Maybe he got off on adrenaline.
The thrill of almost getting caught. Was he planning to use me to get back at Olive?
What could've been so special that no matter what happened, was keeping them together?

Days had passed, and no one dared to mention anything that went down at the party. Nothing grabbed my attention, until one day I had literally gotten grabbed. I stared at the back of Miles' head while being pulled at the wrist. Just like he used to, with no emotion and rough as all hell. Even though I'd put some effort into keeping myself disconnected from pretty much everyone, including myself, it was for good reason. We were to go on spring break two weeks later and I'd been trying to have all my grades in order. Mom would not have been pleased with them any other way.
Once he'd stopped dragging me, I realized the space had been isolated. Not an empty classroom that time, but a fairly dead area."So uhm.. what's up?"
"Where've you been?"
"What are you talking about? You see me every day in class."
He looked genuinely confused by this.
"You sure about that?""Positive, Miles. You sure you've been there? You're the one who's been gone."
"Whatever." He responded snobbishly and let go of my wrist.
"Are you.. doing okay?"
"I'm doing just fine, what do you mean?"
"Nothing, never mind. Just.. don't grab me like that ever again. Okay? I thought we moved past that."
"Mar, I'll grab you whenever I feel like it."
What. The. Fuck. This again? Back to square one?
"You're such an ass."
I turned to leave but he'd done the classic, grab-me-again-and-pull-me-back. His tug had been a little rougher than usual, placing me closer to him than for average comfort. It'd brought me back to that moment of the other night when everything had felt so fake. In fact, I still hadn't been sure that it happened at all.
"Are we ever gonna talk about what happened?"
