We danced to a couple more songs after the brief conversation. Once we parted, I decided to go look for Sadie, Millie, and the guys. After wandering around for a little bit, I finally came across them, all laughing and talking in the hallway by the stairs.

"Hey guys!"
I approached.

Only Millie heard me at first, being the first to turn her head. "There's the birthday girl!" She held out her arms. All of them then turned to face me, becoming aware of who it was she'd been speaking to.

"Here I am. Is this the cool kid hallway?"

Jaeden snorted a little.
"Yeah, totally."

Johnny got a better look at me and decided to leave a remark. "You look like you've been dancing up a sweat!"

I could tell just by the tone of his voice when presenting the statement- it was obvious he had not meant it in a poor mannered way. So, instead of taking it harshly, I chuckled.
"Yeah, that's putting it lightly. Joey is nonstop!"

Millie smirked.
"He's really trying to bust out the moves for Cylia, huh?"

"Yep, he sure is."

We all shared a moment of comfortable silence before Sadie decided to ask a question.
"What's Miles doing?"

Again? I swear these people have an obsession or something. Just keep my cool.

"Oh, Miles. Yeah, he left a while ago."

Millie's eye size grew double as she exchanged a look with Sadie. She turned to me, eyes still widened.
"He did what?"

"It's not a big deal. He's hanging out with Vinnie and them."

"Hold on, 'and them'? Please tell me Jayde is not included in that them."

"Millie, Sadie, you know I love you both tremendously but you need to calm down. Think about it, honestly. They're friends! It's not that big of a shock. He never even said he was gonna come. He said 'swing by' at the very most, but not even that was confirmed before he showed up here. All I know is that he kept his word. He swung by."

Sadie sighed and moved on, scratching the side of her face.
"Well that whole- What was his name? Kyle? That was nice of Miles to stand up like that."

Jaeden and Johnny hadn't bothered to chime in on the conversion for a couple of reasons. One, they hadn't wanted to create any conflict or be involved in any, but two, they didn't really know who we had been talking about. Sadie's statement clearly opened Johnny's eyes to the indentity involved in the matter.
"That's Miles?" He asked, clearly to Sadie.

"Yep!" Millie chimed.

"Oh, he seems like kind of a jerk."

Sadie bit down on her lip to keep from smirking.
"He is. It's sort of complicated though."

By that point I hadn't wanted to hear any further commentary about Miles. It'd been bad enough that I already had to watch him leave, but having to give the rundown to anyone who asked for it had gotten to be tiresome.
