Rewrite the Stars (ver. 2) (Kinda sad)

Hi again! I know this one's shorter but this one was a bit more difficult to write. I hope you guys enjoy it though! This one is written for Din Djarin! I hope you guys like it!

~Din's POV~

It's not a secret I try to hide

So don't keep sayin' our hands are tied

You claim it's not in the cards

And fate is pullin' you miles away

And out of reach from me

But you're here in my heart

So who can stop me if I decide

That you're my destiny?

I sigh, watching as (Y/N) interacted with Grogu, her eyes lighting up when he giggled. I was never one to believe in destiny but when she stumbled across my path in the tavern, my view changed. I was certain that destiny had thrown this beautiful and talented mechanic into my life for some reason. Maybe to get me to open up more, maybe just to through a turn of emotions at me, who knows. One thing I was sure of is that I loved her. Still do. I love the way she interacts with Grogu and the way she tries to cook us meals.

"Hey Mando, What're you doin' just standin' there? Come join us!" She says, waving me over. I smile under my helmet, shaking my head.

"I've got to prepare third meal."

"Oh, you need help?"

"No! No... you just keep him entertained." I say, holding a hand out.

"Okay. Your loss." She mutters.

What if we rewrite the stars?

Tonight

~(Y/N)'s POV)~

I sigh, looking up at Mando as he prepared our meal before going back to entertaining Grogu. I've been with Mando for a couple months now and it's great getting to know each other. I just sometimes wish he wasn't a Mandalorian so I could know his name and see his face. I found myself falling for him a couple weeks ago but I've been refraining from making any sort of move.

I know you're wondering why because we're able to be

But when we go outside, you're gonna wake up and see

That it was hopeless after all

I sigh, playing with Grogu as Mando cooked, the wonderful smells filling the cargo hold. Mando plated the food and walked over, handing me my plate and setting Grogu's in front of him.

"So, how far from our destination are we?"

"Still a couple of days out. Why?"

"Well, I was thinking, if Grogu is going to be going back with his kind after this whole rock thing... maybe I'd try settling down on a planet, making a life for myself as a mechanic." I say, shrugging. Mando dropped his utensil onto his plate, the noise filling the awkward silence that came with what I said.

"No. I won't allow it."

"You're not paying me. I'm here for free. I'd like to settle down someplace. It's my life, Mando." I say, my voice raising a bit.

Tonight

~Din's POV~

I look at (Y/N) through my visor, upset that she would bring up this topic when I thought we were getting along well.

"You're my mechanic. You're not going anywhere."

"I'm not your anything, Mando! I'm just a mechanic, tagging along because I'm also a good babysitter!" She shouts, earning a small fussy noise from Grogu.

"Gods-dammit (Y/N) Why can't you see? I don't like or trust many people but ever since you came along, I-I've been different. You've changed me for the better. You can't just leave after you've stolen my heart like that!" I shout back.

"I never stole anything of yours! Now stop trying to force your love on me!" She shouts, slamming her plate down and storming off to her quarters.

"Dank ferrik." I mutter, sighing as I stared at the closed door of (Y/N)'s quarters. I hear Grogu coo and look at him.

"I know bud... I'm sorry. But I don't think she's staying with us." I whisper, standing and putting away the leftover food.

How do we rewrite the stars?

~(Y/N)'s POV~

I sigh, resting my head up against the door.

"Dammit..." I whisper.

You know I want you
It's not a secret I try to hide
But I can't have you

We're bound to break and my hands are tied

"You've stolen my heart too, you big dummy... but this just isn't possible... it's not feasible. You're a part of a strict creed... I'm just a mechanic..." I whisper, laying down in bed and staring up at the ceiling.
