Taken Too Soon (TW)

This one is a continuation of the series of pro hero reader x bnha character. This one is Kirishima. TW! DEATH.

~Kirishima's POV~

I harden, taking the blows from the villain in front of me, my phone started to vibrate but I ignored it, quickly knocking the villain out and letting the police take him into custody. I grab my phone, seeing missed calls from Bakubro. I frown and call him back.

"Hey Bakubro, whats up?" I ask, frowning when I heard the beeping in the background.

"Kiri, you need to get to the hospital, asap." He says, his voice filled with panic.

"What happened?!" I ask, breaking into a run towards the hospital.

"Your partner... they're in critical condition. The villain we were fighting got them pretty bad." Katsuki says, his voice trembling.

"I'll be there in five." I say, hanging up. I ran to the hospital, rushing in.

"My partner just got admitted. What room are they in?" I ask hurriedly.

"Room 382." The receptionist says, pointing in the direction. I run up the stairs and run to their room, seeing Bakugo outside of it, pacing.

"Eijiro... they just got out of surgery, but it's not looking too good.

"How long ago did this happen?" I ask.

"Three hours. You were busy when I tried calling earlier. I waited for the surgery to try calling you again." He says, a hand on my shoulder. I pat his back.

"Thank you for looking out for them... but explain what happened to me. Please." I whisper.

"We were fighting a villain, the villain kept dodging my attacks and broke past my guard, they tried to fend them off, but their quirk... isn't good for short range. The villain grabbed them and threw them. They rolled for about a block then hit a brick building pretty hard. I finished the villain off, and the police took her into custody. I rushed over to them and did my best to make them comfortable before the ambulance arrived and took them here. I rode with them. Then you can probably guess the rest." Bakugo says, sighing softly as he looked into the room.

"Thank you for trying to help her bro."

"Anything for you, you've saved my ass more times than I can count." Bakugo says softly. I smile and pat his back before walking into the room, sitting down next to their bed.

"Hey pebble..." I whisper, looking at their unconscious body. They shift and stir, their eyes blinking open.

"Kiri..." They whisper weakly.

"Hey. Save your strength pebble. I'll try to get Recovery Girl here. Sh-she can help." I whisper, trembling a bit. They shake their head.

"Kiri, the docs did the best they could... but I-I can feel it... my life is slipping away... I wouldn't make it long enough to get Recovery Girl here." They whisper, moving their arm weakly.

"J-just... stay with me? I-I d-don't wanna go alone..."

"I'll be here. And so will you. You'll make it babe... I'm sure of it." I whisper, holding their hand gently while I run my free hand through their hair. They smile weakly.

"You're always the optimist." They whisper, coughing harshly.

"Wh-what can I say? I always gotta look on the bright side." I stutter. They chuckle softly, resulting in more coughs.

"Thank you, Kiri, for all you've done for me... thank you for being there for me no matter what." They rasp, taking a few shallow breaths.

"I'll always be there for you. I made a promise. Remember our vows? For better or worse... until death do us part." I whisper. They nod.

"You cried when you said them... I remember." They whisper. I smile and kiss their forehead.

"Maybe... when you pull through this, we can try to expand our family... we can adopt a cute little cat. Or dog, whichever you prefer. I know you're not one for kids." I whisper softly. They smile.

"A cat would be nice." They rasp, coughing once more.

A few more hours passed as we reminisced, before their eyes fluttered closed, and their grip on my hand went limp. The monitor flatlined, the sound ringing through the room.

"P-pebble... pebble, wake up... please pebble..." I whisper, shaking them lightly. A sob racked through my body as I screamed.

"Someone?! Anyone? Save them please!" I shout. Doctors and nurses rushed in, ushering me out as they started trying to resuscitate them.

I look at Bakugo, seeing him sitting in the hallway.

"Eijiro... wh-wha-" I cut him off, hugging him tightly as I sobbed.

"Th-they're gone! I-I couldn't save them!" I sob. Bakugo rubs my back gently.

"It's not your fault. It's mine. I'm sorry I couldn't help more." He whispers.

"They're gone!" I shout, sobbing.

And hours passed before the doctors walked out, shaking their heads.

"I'm sorry Mr. Kirishima... they're gone. I suggest you say your goodbyes." The doctor whispers. I nod, standing up and collecting myself. I walk into the room with Bakugo behind me.

"(Y/N)... pebble... I'm sorry I couldn't save you... you won't be forgotten, you'll be remembered for years to come... as the best protector Japan ever knew." I whisper, kissing their forehead. Bakugo nods.

"It was an honor to work alongside you, rest well, Athar." Bakugo whispers, leading me out of the room.

"What now?" He asks.

"I-I'm gonna head home... I-I'll tell their sidekicks tomorrow." I whisper, waving goodbye to Bakugo as I walk off, heading home.

I walk in through the door of my once shared home, looking around at the pictures of us, smiling and happy on our honeymoon. How amazing they looked in their wedding attire...

I'll never get to see their amazing smile again. I'll never get to hear their beautiful laugh... their terrible jokes... their voice...

I dropped to my knees, a sob racking through my body.

"Why? Why did they have to be the one that died? Why couldn't I take their place?!" I shout, sobbing. My fist hardened as I punched the ground, denting the floor. I sob, staring at their picture on the wall.

"Why them? I was supposed to die first! I'll take their place! Please just... bring them back!" I sob, shaking. I punch the ground a few more times, sobbing loudly. I collapsed onto my side, sniffling as all energy slowly left me.

"Please... come back... (Y/N)..." I whisper.
