Ash's PoV

When the darkness lifted, I found myself enveloped by the same lush green trees and vibrant flowers.

My legs quaked, threatening to give up any moment.

I just wanna get this done as soon as possible.

"I think you're really fond of me, aren't you?" A familiar voice said from behind me.

I didn't speak, I just couldn't bring myself to.

Sorrow filled with guilt burned in my chest.

She walked close to me, scanning me from head to toe.

"Is everything alright?" She asked softly.

No, absolutely not.

I shook my head.

"I came to return these" I said showing her the ring and the pendant that I had placed on my palm.

Which I knew I wouldn't need anymore.

"Oh, I've never really done anything for you so uh..., you can keep these"

"I don't need them" I said bluntly.

"Why?"

I bit the insides of me cheeks.

"I need something... else from you"

I said thinking back to what the other spirit had said earlier.

"That's fine, just ask"

I sighed.

Can she really do it?

If she really is my mother, which I still can't bring myself to believe, she won't be agreeing to do this easily.

"I want you to promise you'll give me whatever you ask for" I demanded, still holding the ring and the pendant.

"Not before you tell me what it is" She folded her pale arms.

"Please" I practically begged, falling on my knees and dropping the items that were placed on my palm in the process.

"Ash? Is everything ok?!" She kneeled opposite me.

Tears threatened to escape my eyes.

When did I become so weak?

"It's all my fault" I murmured under my breath.

"What happened?" She yelped.

"I couldn't save her" My voice trembled.

The place fell silent.

I squeezed my eyes shut.

I wanted to get done with this as soon as possible.

"What do you want" She spoke softly, breaking the silence.

"Death"

Her eyes widened.

"I can't do that" she said straightening herself up.

I remained silent, my gaze remained affixed to the ground.

Oh please, ground please swallow me.

Tears started to stream down my face. This is it. I never really understood why demons buried themselves alive but I guess I know now.

I knew the girl aka my mother was lying but I didn't press.

"Can you at least bury me here, I don't wanna go back to those damned woods" I broke the silence.

"Have you lost your mind!" She practically yelled at me.

"Yes"

She glared at me.

"There's no me without her, I'd rather be dead then live without her being near me, I waited so long, I tried so hard to get her back but-" I stopped.

"But?"

"I don't think I tried hard enough, it's all my fault" I lifted my eyes downward, I hadn't noticed the grass and flowers that came in contact with my skin were wilting and turning black.

"I know you can kill me, you abandoned me back when I was just a baby, you were never there for me when I took my first flight, can't you do this single thing for me, I swear I won't ever ask your help again" I was actually pretty shocked at my words, but apparently, it worked.

She had a pain expression on her face.

"Please" I pleaded yet again.

She let out a sigh.

"Okay, I'll-"

"If you don't, I swear I'll hate you forever"

"I...I'll... do it" She said, I could see tears filling her eyes.

"Thankyou" I sighed.

"Can you hug me?" She asked crouching down.

I didn't respond and wrapped my arms around her.

She burst into tears.

"I'm so sorry" she wept.

My vision began hazing, my body started to weaken. My mind stopped processing, my pulse slowed down, soon darkness enveloped my senses followed by a sharp pain going through me body.
