I'm so furious! Oh, my God! I literally see red. I want to bend this giggling drama queen on my knee, take off my belt, and make his ass throb for at least a week. I probably should comfort him. It's clear he has some deep emotional trauma, but I don't think that's what he needs. What the idiot actually needs is a good fuck!

I have never been so frightened in my life as when I heard the terrible crash behind the locked door. It scared the hell out of me. I imagined him hurt and literally went mental. How could he do this, climbing like a squirrel to the second floor just to escape me?

Argh! I hiss, gritting my teeth at the pain in my chest, and try to get up. I hope I didn't crack a rib when I fell along with the door. I have no idea how to explain this to mom and don't even want to think about what is happening in the bathroom.

"Sam, are you ok?" Alec mutters, gazing at me remorsefully with his big, amber eyes. God, he's beautiful! How can you be so mad at someone and so in love with him at the same time? He starts pulling me by the arm and brushing the scattered plaster off my clothes. "Does it hurt? I'm sorry... also for the fire! We... we need... to do something... before it spreads..."

"Get out of here," I growl, finally on my feet. "I want you out in the garden, immediately! Keep mom and Rose there as well."

   "But..." he tries to protest.

"I don't want to hear a word," I squint at him. "You'll sit on the swing sofa with them and not move a muscle until I tell you otherwise."

"Sorry!" he squeezes my hand and purses his lips, heading to the gaping hole in the door's place.

"Oh, damn it! Come here!" I sigh and pull him in my arms, burying my face in his hair. The stench of smoke and burning plastic disappears. He smells so nice. I would hold him forever if the house wasn't on fire. "Don't worry, Peppercorn! I'll deal with this in no time. Just stay out of trouble, ok!"

"Mhm," he mumbles in the crook of my neck. "I'm so sorry!"

"Stop repeating it! Everything will be fine!" I start stroking his silky curls. "You actually did us both a big favor."

"I did? What favor?" he asks suspiciously.

"We just wrecked the guest room," I smirk. "The only option will be for you to sleep with me."

"Oh," Alec giggles quietly. "Are you sure you still want me to sleep with you?"

"More than ever," I state and place a juicy kiss on his soft lips. "Off you go now!"

He stops in the hallway, "Be careful, Sam!"

I roll my eyes and wave him away. Silly! I peek at the wall clock. It's six p.m. Only few hours and I'll have him right where I've always wanted him, in my bed.

Let's see what is burning now. I cover my nose with a hand and step in the bathroom. The air is heavy with smoke, but there's no more actual fire. Despite my irritated eyes, a glance is enough to make me burst into laughter. The charred remains of the shaggy bath mat, a hair dryer, and Alec's thongs are lying on the floor among the pieces of the shattered mirror. I can only imagine the scene that was played out here. My poor, sweet angel! I'll have to clear all the nonsense out of his head as soon as possible, preferably tonight.

I leave the battlefield and go down to the basement to check the fuse panel. The circuit breakers have tripped. I fix them in a second, turn on the power, and head outside. Alec is apologizing to my mother while she's rubbing soothingly his back, assuring him that there's no need. Barney is rolling at his feet, gazing at him with admiration. Everyone seems to adore my Peppercorn. Even Rose is smiling softly at him. Her sweet expression, though, changes completely upon seeing me. She starts shaking her head disapprovingly. I'm sure she's deeply convinced that whatever happened, it's entirely my fault.

"Boys, what would you like for dinner," mom chirps.

"Oh, I know!" Alec beams. "I'm very good at cooking on a barbecue grill."

"Really?" I chuckle. "I heard something about your famous T-bones."

He immediately glares at me, his cheeks turning into a delicious shade of pink.

"How wonderful!" my mother exclaims enthusiastically. "How about some pork chops and chicken flatbreads with grilled corn, eggplant, and potato salad."

"Yes!" Alec grins. "And I have the perfect marinate recipe."
