Sadie's POV

Fuck.

That was the only word repeating over and over again in my head as a broken record.

Fear was starting to creep up through me. This situation was getting worse and worse by the second and it didn't sit well with me. I felt anxious and uneasy, maybe because of Angelo's proximity.

The wigs and contacts' only purpose was to go unnoticed by changing our appearances slightly so it was harder to recognize us. But our heights, our body frames, our face shape and features... they were all the same and a simple costume wouldn't make us a whole new person. Especially to someone as observant as Angelo.

I couldn't make any sudden moves, not knowing how he would react, but most likely starting a gunfire in the middle of the casino. I wouldn't want that, not now that there's so many people in here, but I knew Angelo wouldn't give a fuck about the innocent's lives. It didn't help that I didn't have a gun on me either, only a small dagger that I managed to sneak in past the tight security the casino has for players. But I had a feeling that, somehow, Angelo did have a firearm on him and that also worsened my nervous state.

"Of course, let's start," the man who had flirted with me replied.

"Stay there playing as long as Vinati doesn't do anything, we'll find a way to get you out of there unharmed and maybe lead him to a trap," David informed me.

I discretely glanced at Bianca through the corner of my eyes as she gave me a reassuring nod before I turned back to look at the table. I saw Mel passing by a few feet away from us with a tray on her hand, also giving me a subtle nod. To be honest, I felt a bit safer having them there with me, but another part of me didn't want them to be so close and exposed to the danger. I simply couldn't allow any harm coming their way.

"Before we begin, may I ask what your names were? I think I didn't catch them the first time," Angelo asked, glancing at me until one of them spoke up.

"I'm Paul."

"Bruce," the oldest looking one said.

"Beck," the youngest man in the table introduced himself blankly.

"I'm Larry," the flirtatious man beside me said. "What about yours, beautiful?" he grinned seductively- or at least tried to- at me.

"Alison," I replied in a low voice, hating the attention that was on me.

The game officially started after introductions were made. Cards were shuffled and dealt and initial bets were made. I lifted my cards and watched them carefully, my brain already planning all kind of strategies I could use to win.

A good strategy. That's all is needed to succeed in a game of poker as well as an impecable poker face. I had a good hand and I admit that fact was on my favor, but still, I needed to play well and think my movements through in order to not ruin it.

"So what brings you all to Vegas?" Bruce asked us as he looked at the cards.

"Business," Paul replied shortly to which Beck and Angelo nodded in agreement.

"I heard there are hot girls here," Larry shrugged with a light chuckle. "Well, I already have one sitting next to me."

"I swear I'm going to chop his fucking tongue off if he keeps talking like that," I heard Nathan curse.

"What a shame you have zero chances with me, or with anyone if you keep that act you call flirting," I casually retorted, earning a scowl from him while the others laughed.
