It had been a week since the gossip of Anne and Diana, thick layers of snow had covered Avonlea's once green grass, though thankfully, it had stopped falling, making room for the sun, and a joyous birthday for the sweetest girl in Avonlea.
Cassandra woke with a giddy smile and a spark in her eyes, it was her fifteenth and thankfully, they had suspended class for two days, just in time for her birthday.
The blonde changed into a sky blue dress and a matching dress coat to go with it, stepping down the stairs she was greeted by her mother and brother in the kitchen with sweet pastries, cake, and food littered around their table.
"For she's a jolly good fellow! For she's a jolly good fellow!" They sang as Cassandra giggled with joy, "Which nobody can deny!" Her brother yells, "And no one had better try." Her mother laughed,
"Blow out the candle, dearie. Don't forget to make a wish!" Her mother had said as she put down the cake on the table,
Cassandra leaned in and thought really hard, what could be her wish? she had everything she wanted right here with her. Well, except one.
Blowing out the candle with a smile, she opened her eyes and faced her family who pulled her in for a hug, "What'd you wish for?" Her brother asked, "If I told you, it won't come true." She rolled her eyes sarcastically at the boy as they sat and began slicing the coffee-flavored cake,
"Here you are, darling." Her mother pulled out a blue and purple flower crown, "Margaret and I used to make these when it was our day, we called it 'The Crown of Birth', it was childish, but I wanted to continue the tradition." Her mother chuckled as Cassandra put on the flower crown on her head,
"I have a gift for you too, of course. You're my favorite sister, after all." Her brother exclaimed as she giggled in reply, he pulled out a big box gift that was wrapped in cloth,
"I advice you to open it when mother's not around, she might just try and take it." His brother winked as he whispered,
Cassandra laughed, "Thank you so much, I love you both." She smiled sweetly, "Alright, now let's eat!" Her mother said before they continued to laugh and chat while eating the various amounts of pastries her mother made.
