The skies became darker as the cloud settled thicker, snow hadn't fallen yet, which the blonde was thankful for. It had been two weeks since her mother's death, and she would be lying if she said she was doing fine. Though, Joseph and she were surviving.

Joseph had already checked in the bank, and they confirmed that the will was legal and everything was true, so now they were slowly moving the important things they still had in the house with sentiment to them into a storage garage.

The girl had already packed a big bag of the things she would need, she just packed a bunch of winter items, three dresses, and her brother's gift, which was really useful at the moment, they were trousers. Joseph had bought her sister pants and in Cassandra's opinion, it was the most useful thing she had in her closet at the moment.

To top it off, Joseph gave her a few to buy blouses to match the pants, he said she wouldn't look too weird when they arrive in France, for most of the women there were already wearing pants.

And now, she was doing what Gilbert didn't do, which was saying goodbye. Joseph was off to sell the house and farm for it was their last day in Avonlea.

She had a whole speech she had in mind to tell her friends and friends who became family.

First, was, of course, the Gillis.

The Gillis house was much better than before, Cassandra could hear the laughter and giggles that were being shared in the house, she admittedly envied it.

She knocked lightly on the door, to be answered by a loud instruction to Ruby by her mother to get it.

"Oh my! Cassandra!" Ruby giggled as she brought the girl in for a hug, "Come in-" But the girl cut her off with an awkward smile, "No thank you, Ruby. I won't be long, I'm just here to say goodbye." She sadly smiled, "G-goodbye?" Ruby stuttered as tears glossed her eyes,

Suddenly, Mrs. Gillis appeared behind the girl, with little Charlie she was carrying. "Oh, Cassandra. What a pleasant surprise, what're you doing here?" Mrs. Gillis greets, "She's here to say goodbye, mom!" Ruby cried,

"Goodbye?" The mother asked confused, "My mother...her last wish was for us to find our father. She left us enough funds to do so and we're selling our property. I just come here to say goodbye because Ruby had not only been my friend for so long, but she also became my sister." The girl smiled brightly while Ruby sobbed,

"Oh, then I wish you safe travels, dear." Mrs. Gillis sadly smiles at the girl, "Thank you, Mrs. Gillis." She says, "Though do come back," Cassandra nodded as a reply "Why do you have to leave!" Ruby exaggerates, pulling the girl into a hug,

"I'll come back. I promise."

Just like usual, Cole was chopping wood at the back of the Mackenzie household. Cassandra could hear the crying children and the stressed-out mother yelling at them, she cringed for a second, though she knew she couldn't help them.

"Cole!" The girl calls for the blonde boy, Cole's miserable look on his face was replaced by a bright grin, "Cassie!" He squealed and cleared his throat before sprinting over to hug the girl.

She laughed as a response, "Hello to you too," She giggles, "I haven't seen you in forever! Though I did see you at the...funeral, from afar." Cole winced, "I-it's alright." The girl lied,

"What're you doing here?" Cole questioned, "I'm here to say goodbye." The blonde replied with a slight smile as she smoothed her purple dress down.

"Wait-what?" Cole says confused, "Mother's last wish was for us to find our father, she gave Joseph the house and told him to sell it, we have enough funds to travel. I'm here to say goodbye because I know how it breaks people to see that the love of- their loved one has suddenly disappeared without a trace." She explained,

Cole, had tears running down his cheeks as he pulled her in for another hug, "Goodbye then? When will I ever see you again?" The boy asked as he tucked his nose in the girl's neck,

"I'll come back; I promise."

Though Cassandra and Anne had a misunderstanding most time she was in Avonlea, she couldn't not say goodbye for they had also formed a sort of short friendship between them.

The blonde arrived at Green Gables, Anne having to answer the door.

Matthew was still bedridden and Marilla was taking care of him, so Anne was left to answer.

"Oh, Cassie! How scrumptious it is to see you today!" The girl greets with her usual cheery self, "Scrumptious it is, Anne. Though I won't be long, I just came by to say goodbye, as we would be leaving by tomorrow." She smiled, "Goodbye?" The girl asked confused,

"I can't promise it won't be long, though I do promise that I'll come back." The girl smiled, Anne had a sad smile plastered onto her face as she pulled the girl in for a hug,

"I can't do anything to change your mind, so I'll just wish you safe travels and hope that you'll find whatever you were longing for to make you decide on taking this journey," Anne mutters,

Cassandra soon broke free from their hug and waved goodbye.

As she walked her way home, she realized that she promised all of them that she would come back.

The girl was no liar. She promised herself she would come back. For she didn't want to project the same heartbreak she had gone through to the people she promised.
