The tides were high and the ocean was the same color of dark hue, majestic creatures occasionally swam by to say hello, while the moon shines upon the ocean making the waves reach higher for both long-lasting lovers to reunite.

At least, that was what Cassandra thought. A few months on the ship had led the girl to think of fantastical stories of wonders and myths. How the moon and the ocean were lovers who couldn't even touch one another for if they did, they would kill all who are living.

Or how the calls of the ocean, the shrilling loud but sorrowful cries of the sea were of a beautiful maiden, destined to be lost forever as her kingdom banished for her treachery, but they knew she was only trying to save her sick lover.

Her wild imaginative mind made more and more stories as months have gone by, still stuck in the ocean.

She had avoided meeting new people, as she knew she'd have to leave them when they land. She preferred to stick with her stories, she would rather portray her emotions through her art and reflect how the ocean felt on the blank parchments she had brought with her. She would rather do that than socialize with people she knew would leave her.

She was still broken, even if some of the pieces have magically pieced themselves together, there would always be one missing that could only be fixed by a person who wasn't with her anymore.

"I wish you could see this, mother."

Music filled the boy's ears as he stepped foot in a country he never thought he would see.

Gilbert was just mesmerized by the structures and cultured people that surrounded him, nothing like Avonlea at all.

"Boy, stop skylarkin'!" Bash shouts over to the curly-haired boy.

"Wow, this place looks amazing," Gilbert says as he grabs a barrel that Bash was carrying,

"Just the beginning, my friend." Bash comments as he rose to step on the dock, "You look underwhelmed," The boy voices, "What do you want me to do, dance?" Bash jokes,

"It's been two years," Gilbert replies,

"Yes, I'm very happy to be home. But you? You'll cry when you have to leave. Trinidad will get into your soul. And now we need to get these barrels where they're going." Bash states as every word he spoke were with an accent,

"Oh! Sea leg and seashore ain't friend, you know?" Bash laughs as the boy struggled to carry the barrel as his legs wobble.

"I just need to get my balance." Gilbert says with a struggle, "You need more than that with your mawga self, you catch a stiff breeze, you're gone." Bash kids,

"I'm not that skinny," Gilbert defends himself, "I'll find you some good Trinidadian bush medicine. When I was a boy, I would come down here any day," Bash tells, "I had no idea such a place could exist!" The boy exclaims,

"Bet you never thought you'd find yourself this far from..." Bash trails, "Hey, what the name again?" He asks, "Avonlea." Gilbert answered,

"I used to shop here for my mom, every ingredient she cooked with had to be fresh. Nothing stale in her kitchen." Bash says as he remembers all the old days back when he was nothing but an innocent boy.

"All these smells are making me hungry." Gilbert comments, "You have anything good to eat up on Prince Edward?" Bash queries, "I like potatoes," Gilbert answers pathetically, "C'mon, potatoes? Give me something to work with here!" Bash jokes as they left off the barrels,

"Well... Mrs. Kincannon would serve crab once in a while. Cassandra- uh... my friend always thought they were a bit bland." Gilbert sheepishly says as he remembered the time Cassandra was with him for lunch and got to try the bland crab stew Mrs. Kincannon had made them,

"Friend...aye? Now we're getting somewhere, how'd she prepare it?" Bash chuckles, ignoring the flustered boy.

"Boil it, I think. Add some salt." Gilbert explains as his eyes were scanning the area with great confusion and astonishment.

"That's it? Crab with...salt?" Bash laughs, "What's wrong with that?" Gilbert asks with a grin,

"Nothing, crab nice when you cook it upright." Bash grins as well.

Gilbert listened intently as Bash explained how his mother cooked up a crab callaloo from his childhood.

Both boys laugh as their conversation held humor and insults for both.

A friendship Gilbert thought he would never find.
