Yesterday was amazing, aside from that shit Hawk pulled towards the end. Kat felt conflicted as she lay limp in bed. As much as she wanted to text Hawk, she refused to make the first move. Then again, maybe she was afraid to fall back into the same toxic relationship she had with Nick. No, that wouldn't happen. Hawk was, and never will be, anything like Nick. May god strike thunder on her soul if she ever meets someone like that piece of shit. At the thought of her ex, Kat shoved her fluffy, silk-ridden pillow over her head. "I hate men," she sobbed.
At the thought of Hawk, she felt the vibration of her phone ring on her nightstand. "Who the hell messages a person this early in the morning?" Kat grunted, picking her phone up.
Miguel: "Hey Kat. We're gonna celebrate our dojo's win at Applebee's tonite @ 3 pm. You in?"
Kat: "Sounds cool. I'll be there. Is Hawk going too?
Miguel: "Ofc he's coming. It's his idea LOL." Kat sighed, not responding to Miguel.
Instead, she gazed briefly at the time on her phone. Shit, it's already nearing 12 pm. Yes, she had three hours to spare, but there's makeup, showering, choosing an outfit—oh, my! Kat sprinted to her bedroom bathroom and took a long, hot shower. After, she blow-dried her medium-length hair, making it fluffy and soft to the touch. Kat took a look in the mirror. She hasn't been this content with life since she was a young girl. Placing a simple black headband on her head, she did her makeup, a simple but classy look. With her beauty blender, she dabbed the light shade of her foundation onto her hand in an attempt the cover the long, rigid scars of old memories forever embedded in the layers of her hand.
As usual, she had her outfit preplanned from the day ahead. Today, Kat would dress warm, it's 40 something degrees outside, and she didn't like the cold. She wore a gunpowder grey trench coat that hit just above her mid-thigh, with a soft woolen turtleneck sweater beneath the chic coat. In addition, Kat paired her outfit with a somewhat short leather skirt and thigh-high suede boots. Looking in the lengthy mirror plastered on the wall, she nodded with satisfaction at her reflection.
Next, she checked the time on her phone. "Shit, I took that long?" She sighed. Kat must've taken too long in the shower because now, she only had less than 30 minutes to meet with her friends.
Kat sprinted downstairs and grabbed the keys to her Mom's old car, the beautiful ruby red corvette. "Grandma," she shouted. "I'm going out with some friends, is that okay?" She asked while unlocking the front door.
A voice bellowed from upstairs, "That's fine, sweetie. Don't stay out too late." Her grandma advised the young girl.
With a rejoiced smile, Kat bolted towards the corvette. Since she wasn't too familiar with the town, she used Siri as a navigational device. Thankfully, Siri took Kat through the fastest route, and she managed to make it on time.
The Applebee's was in a giant Los Angeles mall. It wasn't anything fancy, but the food was decent, and the place was scattered with flat-screen TVs that stretched from wall to wall. She looked curiously around the restaurant, her eyes glazing over tables of people, until she saw Hawk's bright blue mohawk, placed next to Aisha.
Upon Kat's arrival, Aisha was the first to take notice. She gasped, walking towards Kat, where she pulled her friend into a tight squeeze. "Bitch, I missed you." Aisha exhaled, pulling away to admire her friend's outfit. "Wow, you're always ahead of the fashion trends, aren't you?" Aisha chuckled.
Kat laughed in response. "You're in a good mood. Did someone win the lotto?" She questioned with her eyebrows raised.
"Duh! We won the All-Valley karate tournament yesterday! There's nothing more to be happier about," Aisha squealed with excitement. "Oh, Kat. Let's go on Instagram live." She insisted while going live on her account.
