Note: This oneshot was named after Johannes Bornlöff's song of the same name which I'd definitely recommend listening to, it's beautiful. This is also a fantasy AU and there's no quirks.

Quirk: no quirks

Many girls loved the idea of living in a palace with grand beds and amazing food, servants waiting on you whenever you wanted however my experience in the palace I was forced to live in was not pleasant. As the daughter of a nobleman I was forced to marry into riches, and as soon as the king showed interest in me my father sold me to him. King Koyama was more that double my age, he was fat, boisterous, loud and mean yet he somehow had about twelve mistresses that wandered about the palace carelessly. The only person I could trust was my lady in waiting, Kataoka.

I avoided my husband at every possible cost, but was now forced to sit beside him as one of our servants, Shiota, delivered him a decorative envelope. "What's this?!" Koyama spat at Shiota.

"A letter of invite to the Todoroki palace in the next kingdom," Shiota said politely and I went rigid. We had been to the Todoroki kingdom a couple of times, and I knew them quite well prior to my marriage. there was one problem however, and his name was Shoto.

Every time I saw him I couldn't help but fall for him a little more. He was so handsome, and I was yet to meet a girl who disagreed. Before my marriage I had feelings for him, and now when I saw him I couldn't help but think what could have been if Koyama didn't get there first.

"Pfft, fifty years on the throne? That man makes any excuse to have a pathetic party," he scoffed and I thought back to when Koyama threw a party and boasted about spending just six months on the throne.

"We must go, to show our respect," I said but all I wanted was to see Shoto.

"I know that!" He spat and the mistresses who lined the side of the throne room giggled.

"I can't stand this spectacle any longer," I mumbled, standing. "Shiota, you're dismissed," I said before walking out the throne room and back to my quarters, determined to wear the most eye-catching, beautiful dress in order to make me feel good for once in my life.

We arrived at the castle gates, the towers looming over our carriage. It seemed many other royals and noblemen, dukes and duchesses had been invited as there were many other carriages lining the driveway up to the castle. We were led up through the castle and could hear the sounds of people chatting as well as an orchestra playing. When the doors to the grand hall opened we saw just how many people were present, seeing them dancing, watching, talking and bowing to the king who sat on his throne at the end of the hall.

I reluctantly followed Koyama to the smug looking king Todoroki, and despite not wanting to Koyama bowed whilst I curtseyed. A second later my husband stormed off and I let out a sigh of relief, glad I could finally be alone and away from him. I walked around the hall, weaving my way through the crowds and taking a drink from a tray that was being carried by one of Todoroki's servants.

"Hello there," a deep voice sent chills down my spine and I looked behind me, smiling when I saw Shoto. He too was smiling, and I was so relieved to see the man I had truly fallen for.

"Shoto, it's so good to see you," I praised, wanting to hug him like we did when we were children but sadly knowing it was considered inappropriate.

"I've missed you," he said quietly so that only I would hear and I nodded, feeling exactly the same.

"I've missed you too," I whispered. He knew of my feelings towards him and I knew that he shared those same feelings for me, which made nights like these ten times harder. The day before my engagement with Koyama, Shoto and I had confessed our feelings to each other and he assured me he was going to try and make sure we could be wed, however I was sold to Koyama before he had the chance which broke both of our hearts. Now the only times I could see him was at events such as this, and we couldn't get too intimate otherwise people would get suspicious.
