You woke up alone in the nurses office. Your eyes fuzzing up momentarily, it took you a moment to focus your thoughts before quickly grabbing onto your throat. You're... you're alive? But how?!

Your eyes darted around the room in a mild state of panic before they finally landed on your phone. Quickly grabbing it, you instantly called Satoru.

But he didn't pick up.

So you called, and called, and called - but to no avail. He just didn't pick up. You were on the brink of a panic attack when Suguru walked in.

"Suguru!" You choked out of your tight chest, looking at him desperately. "Satoru- is he ok?!"

Though the best friend didn't seem too enthusiastic on the matter, he solemnly nodded anyways. "He's... alive."

"Thank goodness," you cried out, completely oblivious to the grim tone edging his words, "oh thank god... I was so scared-"

"Y/n," the black haired boy quickly interrupted you. His facial features were unreadable, as he shifted his gaze away. "Just forget about him, alright?"

Though this would be an attempt from Suguru to share an act of kindness, in the short term it didn't help to calm down your nerves at all. "Forget about him? Suguru, how could you say that? He-he's ok, right? Where is he?"

"He... won't be at school," Suguru akwardly transitioned, crossing his arms.

"Tell me where he is!" After everything that's happened, you couldn't help but snap. Grabbing onto Suguru's uniform collar, you pulled the boy's gaze back on you before realizing what exactly you were doing. Your eyes wavered apologetically as you quickly backed off.

Though he was certainly caught off guard, Suguru was able to brush off the brief encounter as he lightly dusted off his uniform. "He's doing his own thing. He's left the school on his own terms." That's all he could bring himself to tell you.

You certainly did not expect this. Why would he leave? That doesn't sound like Satoru, he wouldn't just leave without a reason. He wouldn't leave you behind... right?

"When did he leave?" You couldn't help but ask, your hands returning to delicately rest on the blankets draped over your waist. Your eyes shifted focus from the black haired sorcerer to the window.

"Two days ago," Suguru responded.

"How long have I been out for?"

"A week."

A week, huh? Oddly, you were less shocked about that. By this time, you were able to recall most of what happened. You were stabbed in the abdomen, and your head was nearly cut clean off. Any wounds from the encounter were still healing, and you'd probably end up with some minor scarring.

"If you see Satoru, run away." Suguru was blunt. "I should also tell you there's been talks amongst the higher ups to decide what to do with you. Some want to send you off in hiding, where some are calling for your execution. Everything's been a wreck since he left, and for good reason. The artefact he stole is troublesome."

"He... stole an artefact?" This was probably the most surprising thing you've heard all day. He was the strongest sorcerer, he had all his clans possessions within the reach of his arm and yet he still needed to steal something? "I love him and I trust him. This has to be some sort of misunderstanding!"

Suguru could read the denial from your lips, but he wouldn't entertain it for long. "I'm sorry Y/n. He was acting weird, and then left. I was the last person to see him... he had the artefact in hand."

If Suguru saw it with his own two eyes, you couldn't really fight it. Was this somehow your fault? You couldn't help but let the thought linger in your mind. But then again if he left on his own accord, who knows what's going on through his head. "What was it?" Naturally you were curious. Suguru would give it some thought before carefully shaking his head.
