Listening to your boyfriend speak through the phone you stare at his dust covered face as he munches away at a cheeseburger, your stew in front of you looking anything but appetizing.
I have to eat this...but man...I don't want to...
I've had such a shitty day...
"How was your day Baby? Anything exciting happen?"
"Hmm? No...not really. Same shit different day."
JinWoo seems to notice your somber flat tone as he shifts uncomfortably in his chair, his eyes rounding with curiosity while setting his burger down on the paper.
"Are you going to eat any of your stew Baby?"
"Yeah, it got cold. I'll heat it back up in a minute."
"Do you have any plans for Halloween?"
"My neighbor invited me over to his house to carve pumpkins."
"Did you have another bad day?...."
Finally moving your eyes to meet his guilt completely overcomes your form as you feel tears beginning to well on your lashes, your head gently shaking while you heave a deep sigh.
"I just....c-can I talk to you later JinWoo?"
"Baby....you know you don't have to hide anything from me right? You can tell me what's going on.."
"JinWoo it isn't like you'll be able to change any of it anyway, I'm stuck in a shit school surrounded by even shittier people. There's no use in talking about it, it's the same thing, everyday."
"....Sometimes talking about it though is good...you don't...want to...you know..."
"I wish everyone would quit acting so damn weird around me like I'm some kind of China doll that can be shattered by a gust of wind. I'm 185 fucking pounds okay? There's nothing to worry about so please do me the pleasure and quit looking at me with such a pitiful look!"
The second the words leave your mouth your eyes widen when you realize what you've done, your face painted with guilt when you see the shocked expression JinWoo gives you.
"....I....I'm sorry Baby...."
"No- I....JinWoo...damnit..."
I lashed out on the one person that doesn't deserve to be lashed out on.
Great job Y/N.
"I'll let you go Baby, Don't worry about it okay? I understand. I love you."
"...I love you too..."
You watch the screen go blank in defeat when JinWoo hangs up the video call, tears flowing down your cheeks as you bring your knees to your chest and choke out a deep sob.
Damnit!
Why do you have to be so stupid!
JinWoo has been nothing but an amazing boyfriend and I turn around and treat him like that.
I'm just...so tired of everyone looking at me strangely...
I cant ever get away from it...everyone looks at me the same exact way and I'm so sick of it I could scream.
Wiping the tears from your eyes and dumping the stew down the drain you step over to the window and peek outside of it, your expression softening when you see Tae sitting on the porch holding a pumpkin in his lap.
Tae...
I don't want to hurt you either....you're such a precious soul...you deserve the world...
But...you invited me to carve pumpkins with you and your mom....you see me as someone of importance....
So I'll stay in your life...as long as I'm good...
Slipping on your red converse and giving your eyes one more swipe you step out of your front door and hop off of the porch to begin walking towards the boy sitting on his stairs, your face falling when you see his cheeks stained with tears.
Tae?
Running up to him and crouching down Tae immediately turns his head away from you and wipes his eyes, your heart falling to your stomach seeing him so upset.
Poor Tae...what could have him that upset?
Staring at him for a moment you give him space as he reaches down and grabs his board, his hands lazily dragging across the board until he pushes it forward.
"Mama can't join us today. Her work called. She has to work a double shift and can't spend Halloween with me. Even though Mama always gets holidays off."
Awww....
Poor Tae.....
Taking the space beside him on the stairs once he sits back down you let out a soft sigh and hold your board on your lap, your fingers daintily dragging across the slippery surface.
"I'm sorry Tae..."
The boy simple gives you a nod and sighs while you both sit in complete silence, Tae's fingers gently writing on his board before he slides it over to you.
"I'm sorry Y/N. I know you were supposed to carve pumpkins with Mama and I..."
Looking over at the male your heart lurches at his somber expression painted on his handsome face, your lips pushing together is a lopsided sad grin as you begin writing on your own board.
"Well...since we already have the pumpkins, would you like to carve pumpkins with just me?"
"Really?"
"Sure, it's a beautiful day outside. I can get us some snacks and we can carve pumpkins and set them up on your porch, when your mom comes home she can see them sitting on the porch rail."
Watching Tae's eyes quickly reading through what you wrote you watch his entire face light up, his lips splaying out into a large grin as he stands up and runs inside of his house, loud banging noises muffled behind the door before he comes back outside with another pumpkin and a small convenience store bag attached to his wrist.
Oh?
Dropping all of the items onto the porch when he sits back down Tae gives you another boyish grin before he quickly starts writing on his board, his eyes perfect little half moons shimmering with sudden excitement when he turns it towards you.
"Really Y/N?! You still want to carve pumpkins with me?!"
Tae...
You have no idea....
"Of course I do, let's get to carving."
