In The Spotlight

{ Chapter 23 }

Xavier POV

I sat, not moving. Imobalized by the shock. Who ever said sticks and stones can break your bones but words will never hurt you, obviously never had a loved one say cruel things to them.

"Xavier, you want Mint-Chip or Vanilla? " Tara's voice calling out to me from the kitchen, knocked my senses back into me.

I replied with a simple. "Hmm... "

Tara walked out into the living room where I was sitting, still unmoving. "Whats wrong with you? " She asked me, as she stood to a stop in front of me.

I just shook my head and gave her a slight smile. "Nothing." I replied.

She raised her eyebrows. "It doesn't look like it. " Tara took a seat next to me, with her arm leaning of the he back of the couch holding up her head. "Tell me what's wrong, seriously."

I only sighed as a response. Tara seemingly getting more worried, came closer. "Xav, tell me whats wrong." Her voice was solid and strong. A no nonsense tone set deep within her words.

I sat in silence, contemplating whether or not it be a good idea to test fate and suffer Tara's wrath. Considering how intense her sisters was... I winced.

Kelsey..

Noticing my wince, Tara gripped my shoulder. Firm but gentle and caring. "Please, I just want to make sure you're okay." She whispered to me.

Finally, after staring at the television set in front of me I turned to face Tara, and I spilled my guts.

"She said what?" Tara growled, from deep in her throat. Before I could answer she stood up and started to rant under her breath whilst pacing.

Taking a deep breath I let her be, knowing that it was what she needed to do. But that's where it left us.

Me hurt, confused, and wondering what could make my best friend turn against me in the time frame of 4 hours. Tara pacing and boiling with anger towards her sister, one that she just reconciled with.

What's going on?

That's all I want to know. Why did Kesley say the things she said? What happened in those four hours that had passed?

I was slowly going insane, I needed answers. But how do I get them?

"We need to get revenge. What is wrong with my sister? How can she act like that?!" Tara started rambling about how to get even with her sister.

I shook my head, "No. No revenge." I interrupted her ranting. "That's not going to work, we need to get on the inside. To find out what made her think this way."

Tara had stopped ranting long enough for my to explain. Her face lit up with a mischievous grin, "Me. I'll go to Kesleys house and pretend like I don't know what's going on, and find out why." She explained her plan to me.

I nodded, "Yeah, that's smart. I guess I'll just get back in touch with Tracey and see if she's got any acts for me." I sighed, rubbing my forehead. "My vacation is long overdo."

A/N: alright guys late update VERY late like over a month and it's short but I didn't want to fill it with a bunch of unessasry details but I hope you enjoy. I'll try to get at least a couple more decent updates out cause exams are near and I doubt I'll be updating often
