"Tara, look can we ta-" I stop in the middle of my sentence because standing in front of me isn't Tara, it was Kesley. Her eyes were slightly red and puffy, she had obviously been crying recently. Good, after all she's done. I thought.

She crossed her arms. "What do you want?" She snapped, her brows were furrowed and she looked like she had gone through a lot recently.

But so have I, all thanks to her.

I glared. "Look it's no of your business. I'm here to talk to Tara, so where is she?" Is all that I say, knowing that even when I'm trying to keep up this whole cold and detached facade, Kesley will always be someone important tome. She'll always be my family.

Kesley sneered at me and was ready to open her mouth, with a witty remark nonetheless, before Tara jumped out from behind the door. "Okay you too." She said, standing between us. "Look, right now I know we have our differences but we have one thing in common." She glanced at me. "Even if we don't know what." Kesley gave Tara a cryptic look before shrugging and returning back into the apartment.

Tara looked back at me expectantly. Sighing, I just nodded, following behind her. Once I entered the living room the tension hit me like a bag of bricks. Ayana, Kesley's friend sat on a love seat on her own with her head down, obviously uncomfortable. While Kesley sat on the two seated couch, staring at her nails. Most likely trying to suppress her underling anger and hatred towards me.

Oh joyous joy.

Tara went and sat next to her sister, who didn't acknowledge me. I shuffled passing Tara and Kesley to sit on the other love seat across from Ayana. After I took my seat all of us sat in complete awkward silence, that was at least before Kesley spoke up.

"Look, okay I know things are awkward. But we all have something in common." She broke the silence, looking around at all of us. "And that common denominators Greg."

I scoffed, leaning back against the chair while rolling my eyes. "Yeah, the only thing Greg has to do with me and you is that you framed him for your backstabbing." I replied.

Kesley glared, but kept her mouth shut. Of course, can't argue with facts. I thought to myself. Kesley turned away from me and crossed her arms.

Tara glared at me. "Be quiet and listen to what Ayana has to say, because it will make you regret any bad thing you said or thought about Kesley." She said before turning to look at Ayana with an expectant look. I looked at her too, doubting that anything she said would change my mind from the truth.

***

I sat there with my mouth wide open. There was no way this was true, Greg wouldn't do this to me. Ayana wouldn't so this to Kesley. They wouldn't do this to us. I stood up and headed towards the kitchen. "Okay, I'm going to need a moment to let this all sink in." Once I left, I heard little whispers begin.

I leaned against the counter with my head bent low, trying to figure out how my childhood best friend could have done all this just to sabotage my career. "Look,I know it's hard." I looked up when I heard Kesley's voice, she was leaning against the door frame with a sympathetic look in her eyes. "It will take some getting used to finally seeing that your relationship was a sham. All those years of friendship meaning nothing in the end, because all that matters is his jealousy and his desire to see you and your career fail." She spoke as though she knew from experience, but how could she..
