In The Spotlight

{ Chapter 5 }

Xavier

I smiled as I looked at Kesley while she and Tracy talked. I was practically sure that she had this in the bag, freedom here I come!

That sounded selfish, but it wasn't all selfish.

It's only half selfish. I really wanted Kesley to live her dream, and if it meant that I could put mine on temporary hold. I will.

"Well, you seem to have a lot of experience and I see great things in you," Tracy's voice brought me out of my thoughts and I started to pay more attention.

"So, does that mean I got the job ?" Kesley asked, looking hopeful.

Tracy smiled and nodded. Kesley squealed, "Thank you so much for this opportunity. I won't let you down." Kesley looked indeed very grateful and determined to make the best out of the opportunity that was given to her.

I hope she still has this innocence when she's deeper in the acting business.

"So, is that ok with you Xavier ?" Tracy asked me, I looked up from my lap, confused as to what she was asking me.

"Um, can you repeat what you said?" I asked her, Tracey rolled her eyes.

"I said that while I'm working with Kesley you'll have to find a new temporary manger, is that ok?" Tracey asked looking a bit concerned. Despite being incredibly annoying, she was a really good friend.

A very pushy friend, but a friend none the less.

I nodded, "Oh of course, I need a vacation so why not take this as an opportunity for one, right?" I told them smiling.

Tracey smile back, "Ok, but after 3 months I will have found a permanent manger for Kesley and we can get back to work." I could deal with that, 3 months was better than nothing.

I looked at my watch and noticed I had promised my little brother that I would come visit him. Sighing I stood up, picking up my stuff. "Hey guys, I have to go. See you tomorrow ?" I asked.

They both nodded and stood up and started walking towards me. Tracy came and gave me a quick hug, "Alright, see you tomorrow." She let go of me, then Kesley came and gave me hug also.

"Bye, Thank you so much!" Kesley squealed. I laughed as I hugged her, while laughing I looked up at Tracy. She was giving me a look. She pointed to me and Kesley and mouthed 'you and her?'

I shook my head, 'No, just friends'. Kesley let go of me and walked back next to Tracey.

I waved and left the room, going down the elevator and out into the building parking lot. I took out my keys, walking towards my black Range Rover.

After driving for a couple of hours I finally reached my destination.

I sighed as I looked up at the old modern house. It was made of bricks, two stories. On the first floor there were two big windows, looking in one of the windows I could see a kitchen, and in the other I could see a living room.

I sighed, I couldn't believe I was here. Its been 5 years since I was in my old home, so many memories. The ones that stuck out the most were my last few days in this house.

"Xavier!" I heard the voice of, what sounded like, a teenage boy. I looked away from my car and looked back at the house.

Standing at the door was my little brother. He has grown since the last time I've seen him.

"Xander! How you been?" I asked him as he walked away from the house. As he got close to me, I smiled at him. He was almost as tall as me.

"I've been good." He grinned at me, next thing I knew he was latched on to me and hugging me tight. "I missed you big bro."

I laughed hugging him back, "I missed you too, kiddo." As I hugged him I looked down at him. He had gotten so big, he looked almost exactly like me but his eyes were blue. If there was one person I loved the most it was my little brother.

We hugged for a little while more before we let each other go. "Ok no it's time to be a men." I told him, chuckling slightly.

He grinned, "Of course." Before we could continue the conversation, someone walked out the front door. Someone I hadn't seen in a while.

"What is he doing here ?" The unmistakable disgust that tainted the voice of my father yelled, while glaring at us.

With a grim expression I couldn't help but say, "Some things never change."
