My dad didn't respond. "Dad! He's not dead?!? Is he?!?"
"He's not dead... but..." His voice trailed off, "I honestly don't know how he's doing other than the fact that's he's alive."
"What do you mean you don't know?"
"Well, since I'm not his guardian I can't ask the doctors, and Mr. and Mrs. Kirishima refuse to share any information at the moment. But I know that those two are a mess right now."
My face dropped. "Do you at least know if he'll be okay?"
"I'll be honest kiddo," His eyes got slightly watery, "I have no clue. Not even Mr. Aizawa knows."
We sat in silence for a few minutes. There's nothing more to really say on the matter until more information comes about.
"Well... they're discharging you and kicking you out by ten-thirty. I'll go grab you some breakfast while you get changed. I left a bag of clothes under the windowsill." He got up and left.
So I got up, got changed on autopilot, and sat on the floor under the windowsill until he came back. Kiri isn't dead, but be could be on the verge of dying for all we know. I tightened my grip on my arm. "Damnit." I whispered to myself. "If only I had stopped him from charging towards that second villain. Maybe he would have been doing better."
I heard a knock at the door, "Hey kiddo, can I come in?"
I let him in, we ate breakfast quietly. After that, dad gave me my ring and we checked out. Then we got in the car and started driving to the police station. All of this was done silently between the two of us. We didn't even put on music in the car. Man, this day is the fucking worst.
We arrived fairly quickly. Just a short car ride away, I didn't really pay attention to how long it took. Maybe it just felt like a short while. I was also responding to the mass of messages I got from everyone in our class and Hitoshi. Hiroshi even let Eri text the six of us involved in the attack.
When we got there, the Chief of the Police Force, Chief Tsuragamae, was waiting right inside for us.
"Mr. Himura," he said, extended his hand, "Glad to see you could make it." He turned to me after shaking my dads hand, extending his hand towards me this time. "Glad to see you here as well, Keiko Himura." It's so strange shaking his hand, I didn't realize he'd have paw pads. He led us down a hall in front of two doors.
The chief straightened his posture, then addressed both of us. "Keiko Himura, I'll have you follow me to help interrogate Hisashi Midoriya. Mr. Himura, you'll need to follow my coworker here. You'll be able to hear and see everything that's going on."
"Of course." My dad gave a small but empty smile at me, "Good luck kiddo."
I returned the empty smile. He followed the police officer into one door while I followed Chief Tsuragamae into the other. There was a chair in front of a wall with a thick panel of glass to another room. Hisashi's sitting on the other side, and the only opening is a metal grate. I'm guessing so we can talk.
"Here, you'll need this." Chief Tsuragamae handed me an earpiece. "Incase you need any help, we can guide you."
I nodded and placed it into my right ear, then took a seat.
"I'll be in the same room as your father." He started to open the door, then turned to me to say one last thing. "By the way, there's quirk cancelling technology in here. So neither of you can use your quirks."
Well that's as least somewhat comforting, I thought as the heavy metal door closed.
"So... This is how you turned out. So different from our vision." Hisashi said with a smile.
"What exactly you you mean by that?" I tried to keep my voice as neutral as possible. But to be honest, I'm terrified.
He leaned forward, "I think you know exactly what I meant." He locked eyes with me, a few strands of hair fell in front of his eyes.
I shifted in my chair, "Sorry, you may have to remind me of what I know."
"Ooooh, you sweet summer child..." Is he even using that right? "Don't you remember that you were born to be a weapon? To be a villain?"
"Yes I remember that. So you just mean I turned out to be morally different?"
"No, no, no. You misunderstand." He tilted his head down, peering at me through his hair. "You weren't supposed to look like that."
I rolled my shirted between my fingers, "I don't understand what you mean."
He threw his head back in a laughing fit. He just kept laughing.
Speakers in the corners of the room came on, "Hisashi Midoriya, stay on track."
He laughed a little more and said, "You got it boss," with a sarcastic salute. Then turned back to me.
"Apologies for my fit there." He smiled, "It's just so funny. I completely forgot that the only ones that knew were me, your mother, and All for One."
"The only ones that knew what?"
"That you were supposed to be turned into a Nomu, of course."
