Once the two hour train ride was over we found our way to Mr. and Mrs. Kirishima's house. Mina rang the doorbell and we waited a moment. When the door opened, Mrs. Kirishima greeted us with a smile.

"Mina! Keiko! What a pleasant surprise! Please, come in!" She stepped aside to let us in. "Honey, some of Ei's friends are here!" She called down the hall.

A moment later Mr. Kirishima appeared in the living room with us. "Ah, Keiko and Mina, it's good to see you two. Please, have a seat." He spoke, gesturing to a couch.

We nodded and sat down. Kiri's parents followed and sat at the couch across from us, with a glass coffee table separating us.

"So," Mr. Kirishima said, "To what do we owe the pleasure?"

"Well, Mina and I came to update you on the progress of our fundraiser for Kiri."

They nodded, with Kiri's mom saying "We really appreciate you doing that for us" with a solemn smile.

"We're glad you do, because we couldn't bear to just sit around and do nothing." Mina said. "You see, we haven't just reached our goal, we've exceeded it."

Mr. and Mrs. Kirishima both froze with wide eyes.

"Already? You've only been raising money for..." Mrs. Kirishima started counting on her fingers.

"A week and a half." Mr. Kirishima spoke for her, "How much over the goal?"

"About seventeen thousand more than our goal." I told them, "And I wouldn't be surprised if more came in."

"That's... that's so much money... how did... How did you raise that much for our Ei?" Mrs. Kirishima clutched her chest, seeming to be struggling with breathing.

Mr. Kirishima grabbed her hands and helped her to calm down before we continued.

"Well, at first we just had our class donate, but we barely had a thousand between all of us. So we went to the principal." I glanced at Mina and she picked up where I left off.

"He gave us three thousand, and let us make a video to share in the morning at school. A lot of students donated, some even got their parents to help."

"After that, word spread to students with work experiences, which spread to pro heroes. That and our friend Momo donated a fairly large bit of money."

"That's... incredible..." Mrs. Kirishima's voice was quiet, her and Mr. Kirishima both started crying.

"Thank you... Thank you so much..." They would say between sobs, "This means so much of us..." Their voices were quiet, but sincere and full of emotion.

After a minute they got up and hugged Mina and I, squeezing hard and thanking us again. We hugged back, crying with them. They eventually let go of us, still whispering thanks to us.

I took my phone out of my pocket and asked one of them to do the same. I showed them how to take the money and put it in their own account. They told us they had set up a secondary savings account as soon as they knew how much Kiri's surgeries would cost, so we put the money in there.

"When the surgeries are over, do you want the extra money back?" Mrs. Kirishima asked, now with some mascara streaking down her cheeks.

"No no, of course not," Mina replied, "We raised this money for you and Ei. Use the leftover for any physical therapy or medical treatment he needs after."

"You and your class are full of saviors, thank you so much."

I smiled at them, "It was the least we could do-"

"No it wasn't," Mr. Kirishima cut me off, "The least you could have done is send your condolences. This is the most you could do. We will never forget this kindness."

"Speaking of," Kiri's mom tapped her chin, "Why don't you two stay for lunch? You traveled so far just for a ten minute visit. Please, let us at least do this in return."

We agreed to stay for lunch, and constantly offered to help with cooking, setting the table, and cleaning up. Each time Mina and I were shot down, and they insisted that we didn't help. We eventually stopped because they were so stubborn on this. It was really sweet of them, and the food was delicious.

They told us during lunch that they would schedule the surgeries as soon as we were finished eating, and would text me—they had just asked for my phone number over lunch—as soon as they knew when it would be. We thanked them for lunch as we left, but they still insisted we have no reason to thank them.

We still had to stop at Mina's house before we went back to the dorms, and she told me it was only a ten minute walk from here. While we walked I texted the class group chat to update them on how it went, and that I would get a text update later today.

After stopping at Mina's house and taking the train back go the dorms, it was time for a nap.
